That's 8 players.

Hopefully Dusty signs which leaves 7.

We already have 2 first rounders, a 2nd rounder and two third rounders for the 2017 draft.
If we pulled another 2nd rounder for ... say Grigg.... then that's 6 good draft picks.

Which exits Grigg and 5 more from batch maric Lambert hunt Morris & miles.

I thought we gave next years 2nd to the Suns as part of the Prestia trade

Just to clarify (or confuse ;D ). We didn't have a 2nd this year because of Yarran, so we gave next years to Gold Coast in the Prestia trade and got 1 back this year (to replace the lost Yarran one) and then used it on Caddy, so it was the full trifecta.

Looking forward a little but and we seem to be set up quite well with players who will take us forward and a lot of players out of contract next year.

Guaranteed we will try and re-sign - Dusty, B Ellis, McIntosh, Miles and Rioli
The others who IMO are all playing for their careers at Richmond- Maric, Grigg, Drummond, Elton, Hunt, Lennon, Morris, Townsend and Broad.
Castagna decision will need to be made next year.

Thats 9 on the senior list that we will pick and choose next year as to which ones stay. Reckon Maric and Townsend are guaranteed to go next year. Maybe only 2 or 3 of these 9 actually survive.

So now add the 3 from this year (Lambert Butchelor - not a spelling mistake and Butler) that makes 12 players out of contract that unless we see something better this year you'd think we wouldn't really want to retain. The horrifying thing for me, is we know full well that we will not turn over 10 players next year (lets assume Grigg and Drummond stay) as thats 23% of the list. Why we wouldn't have dropped at least 1 of Batchelor or Lambert this year and taken a rookie I have no idea. We know what we get with them, some good, some bad, a lot thats just very average, whereas we could have taken a punt on someone in the rookie draft and see where we get to.

I guess we have a year to get used to the fact that at least 3 of the list we would assume would be delisted will be on the list for the 2018 season. Lets hope some of them step up and show something this year, Butler, Elton, Lennon and Broad so that we can cut the list cloggers.
