Contract List

Have I missed Grigg and Lambert signing on for 2016?

Grigg has an automatic 1 year contract extension triggered. Lambert will be upgraded to the full list in the ND.

How does that work mrposhman? Does it require one of our picks? Do we have an automatic option or does he have to go in the draft?

Will be our last pick in the ND. No need to nominate.

Are you certain Lambert will be permanently upgraded ?

I have some doubt FWIW

If the draft is as bad as it's being made out to be then upgrading lambert, george or short might be an easy way to reach the AFL's minimum 3 new players per draft policy

I'd be 99% sure. Pretty much played every game that he was available for last year.

So 3 spots on our list. I guess we will upgrade Lambert and draft 2 players, will we release any others and either take a DFA, another draft pick (unlikely i would think with it being 88), or upgrade another rookie (Castagna?).

I would think at least 1 more will be delisted from the main list and depending on who we bring in Thomas may also be released. I would think Gordon has the squeekiest bum at this point in time.

According to my calculation we have 34 listed players and 4 rookies from 2015. We have added 2 in Yarran and Townsend , so 36 listed players and 4 rookies.

We have to have 44 players and a minimum of 4 rookies.

If Dea and Gordon go and thomas ( rookie ) as well which would leave us with 34 listed players and 3 rookies.

My view is that we may well take 2 in the draft and upgrade Lambert, take Moore as a delisted free agent and then make a choice between taking one more delisted free agent and 2 rookies ( 39 listed and 5 rookies) or just take Moore and 3 rookies and have 38 listed and 6 rookies and look to upgrade maybe Castagna and one more in 2016.

Of course any of Gordon, Dea and thomas could stay as well but if Moore is coming and we don't delist anymore we have lost 5 listed players and added 3 which leaves us with 37 listed players before the draft and only 3 live picks and I can't see that happening

Gordon won't be delisted Sin. I know a lot want him out but to be given a lower number in just 1 season shows he's a Dimma fave, and I reckon he'll be given 1, maybe 2, more season. Lloyd's more a definite for the long-term. I also think Thomas will remain a rookie.

Pretty sure Taz said he was likely to get another year...I can't see any point in keeping him at all. Even though it's a weak draft I'd still rather move a few of the not up to its on and take a punt on some kids or even a state leaguer

I agree CC, but there's already an article on the RFC website about player retention. It'll be interesting to see who does go. Madonna's still a loss to me.
