Connors

I'm pretty sure his issues have been pretty wildly documented. Nothing new that brought it about.

Wildly rumoured or widely documented?

The only thing I have read this year was a rumour that he was suspended from the Escort Cup pre-season over some off-field issue. RFC official posted that this was incorrect.

i think we are getting to the point where we are going to need to try Connors up forward, in Miller's place assuming TV is in.
but, in fairness to him we need to make sure he is ready before we bring him back. he probably only has one chance (a few games) to make it. if he fails his career is over. he needs to be fit enough, and he needs to understand his role defensively. if he is lacking in either of these areas then he shouldnt get his chance yet.

Im pushing for him to get a game but agree with you Brods. If his fitness isn't up to it...wouldn't suprise me if it's not then id say more time at Coburg. If he were to come in and injure himself or have even 1 bad game I think it would be game over for Dan.

I don't think he is the future, but he deserves a chance to show what he has. He looked okay when played back a couple of years ago but he is a long way behind our hb's in skill set so it's now or never up forward for Dan. He played forward as a junior so he knows what his doing.

That was from October 2011. I'm referring to the rumour that he was banned from the pre-season comp.

Yes, I'm not convinced he is match fit, though I haven't seen the last two outings.
So based on having NOT seen him play the last 2 weeks you think he's not match fit? hhmmmm :headscratch

Thanks for your input, sniper. As I clearly stated, I haven't seen evidence that he is match fit, I added the disclaimer to be fair to him. I realise fairness is something you have no familiarity with.

I'm not convinced he's not match fit but I haven't seen his last to outings either.

Fair enough. Just saying, because I saw him struggling with running games out in the games I saw.

Huh? The article is dated mid February, suggesting he's just come back from a 12 week suspension. He probably wasn't fit enough/ had to earn his spot again.

Look I really hope Dan gets a chance at Tigerland, and has sorted out whatever issues he may have, but it's pretty clear to me something happened over the Summer break.

Ouch, touchy little princess tonight aren't we.

I just don't like seeing players with ability wasting it and imo Connors has lots of ability and is easily good enough to be a good AFL player. I am well aware of the negatives and the chances he has had but I am living more in hope than expectation when it comes to him.

There are some players who have an innate sense of being where the ball is and Dan Connors is one of those. Hard work , stay off the turps and an ounce of luck and maybe there is one last chance for him to make it.

Play him Dimma, he is the type of player who can make something out of nothing, or take a hanger and maybe snag a couple. We need that sort of player in our forward line, or even off the bench. It may not work but it's worth a try.

I want him in as I am a fan, but tbh I don't know if he is match fit as others have said. Probably another week at the Burgers at least as last week was the first time this season he has ran the game out. VFL to AFL is a big jump and he isn't a sub player imo.

The VFL have the bye this week so it is the perfect week to bring him in as the sub.

If we were to bring Connors in, I'd look to sub him off rather than on. In other words, start him on the ground in either King or Nahas's position; if he is having little impact, or not providing enough forward pressure, send him for an early shower.
