Connors

Bit of an over reaction here, he was drinking, wasn't drunk, he has an injury and we have the bye next week, no reason why he shouldn't have a few quiet ones on a saturday night, even with his history.

He isn't the kind of bloke that can have a few quiet ones though, that has always been his problem.

Exactly!

You can understand the concern, surely. It isn't a case of wowserism I don't think, it is a case of knowing Connor's history of being unable to stop at a few. I don't think it is surprising at all that people are concerned that he has returned to drinking during the season.

yep , seeing he wasn't playing he should have been tucked on a couch with a blanket over him with a glass of hot milk just like most 22 year olds would be doing

Now Sinner, where in my post did I say it was wrong to be out on the town ?....... the only part of that post I found at all "iffy" was the part about him "not showing any injury problems out on the dancefloor" ........ that makes me question why hasn't he been playing and getting some fitness together for a run at a spot in the 1's.

I know the guys past history with the *smile*, but I dont believe I mentioned or accused him of having to many, did I ?

Being out at a nightclub having a few beers isn`t a big deal for most players, but Connors has a litany of incidents while drinking and is on his last chance after being suspended for 6 or 8 weeks by the club last year.

Even if Dan is acting responsibly it only takes 1 idiot to have a go at him or even 1 of his mates to get into a fight and he could be dragged into it.

Even 1 minor incident that includes him drinking, even if he isn`t drunk, could mean the end of his career.

All I`m saying is he needs to be very careful.

unfortunately connors is prone to soft tissue injuries and on top of that it takes him half the season to get over them and get back his fitness due to his naturally low fitness base.

fair enough but where did I imply in my comment that you did accuse him of having too many ? I thought you were saying that he was putting his injury recovery at risk by dancing actually.

You can see from most of the recent comments on this thread what most people have assumed you were implying .

Well the "warm glass of milk on the couch" would tend to suggest the whole "stay off the *smile*" insinuation to some I guess mate.

I was saying exactly that mate to be totally honest with you, I have no problem with a bloke having a beer or 2, everything in moderation if your a professional athlete these days ofcourse.
I was just responding to the OP's original post that stated "he wasn't showing any ill effects of injury out on the dancefloor", yet the last injury report I read stated that he is still recovering from a Quadricep strain.

I would think that isn't the type of injury you'd be "tripping the light fantastic" too if you weren't able to go to work, but maybe that's just me ?
Not sure the club would be thrilled to hear that either to be honest mate.

The drinking issues others here have been focusing on is also an issue ofcourse if you have his checkered past, so it is very relevant in this instant also, even though the OP did later mention he didn't seem alcohol affected which is good to know.

I hadn't even considered the drinking part to be honest , I was just trying to paint a picture of someone tucked up on the couch. Just shows how posting can be misinterpreted.
I actually posted a few weeks ago that i had seen Dan Connors at the Bulldogs game and he seemed to walking ok but was then listed as 2-3 weeks with a quad. I guess the club knows he was out last weekend now even if they didn't before .
We miss guys like him and Edwards in my view. That may not be a popular view with some but they create space and take a few risks which we could do with at times .

You can walk ok with a quad injury - hardly feel it - light jogging is ok too. Hard running is a different kettle of fish & kicking is out of the question. That sharp action of kicking is murderous.

Actually all I have seen here is rumour and innuendo. Nothing of any substance at all. Good thing you're not a judge. Not a confirmed sighting, no confirmed drinking and yet he is in trouble. WTF? Stop peddling this BS. Put it on the Roumour board or don't post rubbish..

Where has it been mentioned anyone thinks he's in trouble ?

If you dont believe it to be true that he was in fact "out in Bendigo", talk to the bloke who started the topic then, not me, I'm just commenting on what he stated afterall.

You must be a relo to get that upset over nothing I'm guessing. ::)

Definately. Quad injuries are 6weeks plus to fully heal, otherwise you just keep adding scar tissue to the injury and it never heals fully.

Houli does what Connors did but 5x better. Would struggle to win his own ball in the middle. Dont see a place for him when fit anyway.

Apparently Dan is back on the available list along with the 2 Matty's - Dea & White. You would think he would need to run around Coburg for a few weeks, maybe be putting his hand up after the bye?

Would like to see this kid come back soon, have no idea how he has been playing in the VFL.
Hopefully has a few games before end of the year...

I have a feeling Richmond may trade Conners .
