another guy whos not a natural backman. let him loose on the wing or forward flank. enoughs enough making all our classier players defenders. let him worry bout kicken a few goals and setten many up, not defending first then thinking about getten the ball

Connors himself has said his preferred position is at half back.
If he can't make a fist of it there I'm not convinced we should play him forward.

See I reckon he has all the attributes to make a good modern half back.
The frustration is when he wastes kicks. He's potentially capable of spotting targets from 50m - and it would be just so good if he improved his percentages. (But I know that potential is not a guarantee.)

Needs to step up. Capable of better than what he's showing. Although he's still not the worst in the team.

Very average start to the season.......not overly confident that Dan will still be around in 2 years? :-\

lets hope not. Turn overs kill us.
And he is one of the worst offenders for that

wow..some pretty harsh stuff being said here..i thought he played some very very impressive footy last year..one of our better players in 2010, showed lots of great signs....hasnt been great so far this year, but hasnt been bad either.. give him another couple years at least

It's going to be interesting to see how things pan out for Dan. He's not going going to get a game before Jake Batchelor i wouldn't think.
Kelvin Moore will be be back soon.
Webberly probably deserves to replace Whitey if he doesn't come up.

At the moment looking at the side - he will need to pull his finger out to be at the club long term.

Andrew Collins part 2, will be delisted/traded. theres no spot in the backline for him.
pity because in 2008 i thought he was going to be very good player for us, but just too often has had poor form and i just cant see him getting a game a head of Batchelor, Grimes and Moore.

let's not get too excited. connors still has side on his time. yes hard to see a spot for him in the team when we're winning but gaps will appear if we lose a few

he's had a pretty bad run with niggles & off field issues. i'm pretty confident that towards the end of the season, dan, along with mitch morton will have established themselves as starting 22 players...

Premature to make any call on Connors.

If Batchelor or Newman lose form/get hurt, Connors will be straight back in.

Wouldn't suprise me if Dimma tried him more as an outside mid either. He can certainly read the play, and after seeing the transformation in White, Nahas and King, well anything looks possible

will get his chance before the season is finished i hope he takes his chance with both hands.
his kicking when off song can worry not unlike Titch...

Had a reasonably poor start to the season and he is now injured but he is an AFL standard player for sure and will have to work his way back into the team by playing well at Coburg . That's what happens at successful clubs with depth . We are getting some at last.

geee..connors was fastly becoming one of my favorite players last year, cant see any reason to delist or trade him at all..look at the massive improvement of nahas and king, there is no reason why dan cant improve the same way...he will slot right back in give a lack of form or injury to any one of a number of players....i

Quick question re: Dan Connors (before it's merged)

I'm just wondering what he's up to at the moment?

Almost forgot about him until I was going over our team stats for last year, and saw in only 14 games he was like our 4th highest possession winner. 5th for kicks & handballs etc... His Average's per game where right up the top in our best three for stats around the ground...

I thought a few of you guys could give your thoughts on when/if he'll be back in the firsts, before this gets merged into the distance...

(I found it interesting the note that Connors and Hislop both bench the most of anyone in Richmond.. Probably not the two I would have predicted, but anyway. unrelated.)

not sure where he is at injury wise but IMO he is another talented lazy bludger in the morton mould. a fit healthy disciplined DC on the hbf frees up deledio grigg or houli to play up the ground. he could literally be anything and he knows it

Too right.

Dan needs to step it up this year. Last year his performances were okay, but this year okay won't be acceptable. Hopefully he has improved his disposal. While its generally alright, he has alot of howlers. He could be a seriously good player if he puts his mind to it, and up's his work ethic.

I believe Sydney made a play for him last year, and when they see a player could be really good, they know it. Just look at their turn over of recycled players. You basically don't want to deal with Sydney if they want one of your players, you just about know that player will come back to bite you!

Hopefully Connors can become a regular player for us this season, i'd like to see Grigg go back into the midfield.

Surprised he has only played 27 games. Martin has played more games than him!

He probably has currency, but I would be against trading him at this stage.

Morton on the other hand dunno, would probably move him on if he doesn't play much by the end of the year.
