Connors

Still yet to play a senior game so far this year despite being named as an emergency a couple of times in the past month.
He took an absolute speccie against Bendigo on the weekend which can be viewed on the Coburg board but reports are that he's just not doing enough to warrant a senior birth due to a continued lack of fitness.

Another post somewhere(?) speculated that this weekend might be the time to bring him in against theSwannies on the much smaller SCG.
He's got a tonne of talent this kid and I hope he gets a chance to show it soon.

Is he a chance at a surprise callup and where do others see Dan Connors at?

I saw him coming of the ground with what looked like a dislocated shoulder on Sunday. He was in a fair bit of discomfort for a bit but they did strap it back up and he went back on after 3 qtr time.

Not sure we'll see him in Sydney?

I saw the curtain raiser game against Geelong. He played very well and looked to have turned the corner as far as questions about his fitness go. I would like to see him in but ??? who for?

I think is just wether you want an attacking player in like Connors or we continue to play a bunch of run with types

Clearly showing the side effects of not having a preseason. Add that to the fact that he needs to push himself more on the track and you can see why he is at CFL level.

Has AFL skills and footballing ability but has less the VFL fitness at the minute. Long term he is a exciting prospect.

On the other hand, Cotchin had no preseason and slotted straight in at AFL level. It indicates that Connors may not be working hard enough (I know you recongised this SCOOP).

Has more talent than most on our list but his fitness level is poor. Needs to be put on a strict fitness regime to push his pudgy body to the limit.

I'd expect the club would know this, the fact that he hasn't shown improvement indicates he is resisting these efforts.

I think Connors is the type of kid who needs to know that the reward is coming if he does the hard work. Some people struggle to see if the bigger picture when they are doing the small harder things everyday that add up to your overall goal.

Maybe something along the lines of "Ok Dan if you can get your skin folds down to X in four weeks and can complete Y task you will play in the ones. And every week I am going to test you on X and Y once you get there, you fail X or Y and you are back at Coburg.Get it?" Cause talent ain't the issue here, you need to push different buttons for different people. We need this kid to be a 150-200 gamer.

Connors has the skill. Unfortunately he needed the pre-season more than anyone has he seems to have a low lfitness base, or maybe just isn't as naturally fit as others. He might never have the engine that some other players and might be more of an impact player. I'd like to reserve judgment though until he hopefully does a good pre-season next year and has a string of games spending alot of time on the park.

for such a good kick he misses too many targets imo, more laziness then anything else but its something he needs to improve on, has had a good run at Coburg so fitness should be coming along

I seem to recall a lot of the theories above regarding Daniel were the reason he slipped to us late in the draft. His attitude and application were severly questioned weren't they? Some seemed to think he was a first round talent skills wise, but lacked the mental drive to succeed. Hopefully we can turn this around.

Agree Harry.
It was very frustrating seeing him in a moonboot instead of busting his nuts for his 2nd AFL preseason particularly for a player with a seemingly low fitness base to start with. You always knew from that point on he'd be up against it this year.

Though without being too critical given his pre season injury, if he won't do the work he won't make it no matter how talented he is.
It has has to come from within if he's going to succeed or he'll end up another wasted talent.

I really hope he makes it because you can see the breathtaking ability in fits and spurts, he just needs to be whipped into shape.

im worried about Connors.

1, Kicking in General play
2. General Fitness
3. Wanting to do the miraculous instead of the basics.

improve these and i'd feel better but its still an upset tummy with me.

I do agree with the poster who suggested we wait till he has a full PS and a good run of games.

Meyer will be back in the fold hopefully soon and he has what i'd call above excellent decision making and poise.

Both Dannys will be gunning for similar positions along with Collins and others.

All good for us.

The same Meyer who got run down by Hird last year at the Dreamtime game, because he looked like a rabbit in a spotlight? ;D

From memory, wasn't he the recipient of a rather hot handball as Hird returned from the bench?

BoG last weekend for Coburg. 30 odd touches 11 marks.

Too talented to be floundering at the lower levels and hopefully will be played in the remaining three games of the year.
