classy, skilled, small, FAST draft prospects

Maybe right, I hadn't heard of him. Was he listed in the prospectus?

Huge wraps on the weekend. Shifter Sheehan called him "Pater Matera or Michael Long like." The highlights were amazing. He's firming as my ideal pick.

And Gus, Conor Blakely is another that I'm warming too. 26 disposals, nine clearances and seven inside 50s on the weekend. His WAFL form in the seniors is pretty solid. 18 touches a week. Reckon he is on the board come our second pick?

I'd walk away happy with those two at our first two picks at this stage.

Blakely was the WA player I hinted a few weeks back that might be a Ward type pick that I thought was also flying under the radar. He's steady and composed and and I think right now he is a late first round prospect. To grab him in the 2nd round would be a good win.

I've been a fan of Pickett since last year and would be very happy to see him at Punt Road next year.

Have you had a look at Shannon Taylor, Scoop? Remember him from (I think) 2011 draft year? Going pretty well at Frankston.

Just for golly:

I really don't understand why he hasn't been rocked at some stage. Are there off field issues?

I think there were, but he's straightened himself out apparently.

Rookie pick, late pick in national after 60. The talent is immense, we don't have anyone who has close to that skill set.

Pickett, Blakely & Taylor are on my shopping list. We have to load up on mids. If we finsih bottom six, we should be able to walk away with one of Brayshaw or Pickett. Must fix the mids.

I reckon 18th is a race in 3 between Us, St.kilda and Brisbane. I reckon neither saints or lions would take Pickett at 1 or 2. Would we take him at 3?

Whats splitting them in your opinion?

Pickett can win his own ball but isn't as bash and crash as GB but Pickett is more skilful and has pace. I also like the fact JP can win games in a burst. We have no one like that.

In our case, I'd sacrifice a little bit of power for a lot of pace.

What about for you?

I'd prefer Pickett. I don't think there is a lot of downside with him

What's Pickett's defensive side like? I've seen some criticism of it from his game on the weekend. Maybe just an off day? I'm concerned for the risk he'll become a Yarran type, skilled to high heaven but not consistent enough.

If there's a defensive side to his game he's our man.

Wow.

The fact that JP kicks it through the two middle sticks rather than the little side ones differentiates him from Yarran. FWIW, Id still love Yarran off half back.

Uncle Byron had a pretty fearsome defensive game :hihi

I'm almost certain both will use their 1st picks on KPP, Brisbane definitely will (unless they can trade for say Patton but may do it even if they do) and I think Saints will be looking for one also, I don't think Tom Lee has come on like they expected.

Both of those should leave the best mids for us.
