Never said he doesn't. Too much to ask for a top 10 pick to have some defensive nous?

do you really want, or need defensive nous in a 17 year old football genius? Isnt that a root part of our problem? recruiting 17 year olds WITH defensive nous?

I say NO to defensive nous. We want mercurial, intuitive, fast, game breaking, attacking, dancing, magical, breathtaking, jaw dropping, ambidextrous, natural, instinctive. NO defensive nous. none.

Get him. That's it. The Scoop stamp.

Ed Langdon looks like he fits our bill?

Very smart footballer, not sure he is a pure mid. Getting a bump in popularity due to his brothers success.

And speaking of 19 year olds, I really hope we grab Nathan Drummond after the first couple of rounds. Really like the kid and think he could do a Tom Langdon and come in and paly next year.

I don't know what to think with our first pick anymore. Top class mid would be great but geez we could do with a monster forward.

FROM the Murray Bushrangers, my mail is Nick MELLINGTON will play for the RFC VFL team this weekend at Morwell & Drummond will play the following week.
Drummond is having a huge year and really busting his gut on and off the field! Good luck to him and appears to be leaving no stone unturned to get drafted!

For those who want an insight into this years top end draft picks.

I would be curious to get the views of the junior follows on PRE on their thoughts on this.

Smith ahead of Brayshaw is madness.

Prefer Knightmares on Bigfooty.

Pick 6: Richmond - Hugh Goddard

Position: Key forward/defender
Height: 196 cm, Weight: 93 kg, DOB: 24/08/1996
Club: Geelong Falcons
Projected Draft Range: Top 10
Plays like: Jack Watts

Awesome....soft as butter key forward. What a novel commodity at Punt Rd.

Cannot see this pick happening. Under and circumstances. Much more likely to have Brayshaw around this pick, I could easily see us taking Cody Ellis or Lachie Weller ahead of Goodard. Strange pick to forecast.

Vickery, Griffiths, Goddard. Terrifying.

SCOOP were you surprised to see Christian Petracca at pick 4?

There are huge wraps on the lad. Huge, he may go number 1. I'm not sure what position he ends up playing. To start with he will be a third forward because he doesn't have the tank of a junior onballer at the moment. He could end being a big tall onballer like Mundy with a bit of Stevie J about him. Bit for me, he is a much more aggressive Jack Watts. They both played state basketball, they both play forward in the TAC and they both weren't fit enough. Although Petracca is more aggressive, he is coming from a long way back fitness wise. I think he goes top 10 but how high, I'm not sure.

Come on mate. he is obviously indicating that Goddard is a mobile tall utility type that can play key position/ swingman.

Doesn't get much of it or use it all that well, plays as a swingman but more as the floating second or third fwd / def. Who farted on Paige's hat n upset her enough to allocate us the dud of the first round with pick six?

Petracca is a forward who can also spend a significant amount of time in the midfield. He plays the game in a very physical manner. To me he is nothing like Jack Watts.
I think he will be used in both forward and midfield duties at the senior level. How good he can be at either or both questions is a bit harder to judge.

gonna follow the flying boomerangs in the Div 3 U16 champs next week and find us a couple of blokes.
