classy, skilled, small, FAST draft prospects

Or an 18 year old Tambling playing purely as an outside midfielder. If recruited this year instead of 2004 I think his career might have turned out differently.

And a late round 1 or after pick as well. (No Buddy, Roughy, noise in the draft either)

One suspects that the initial squads would have been picked and be training by now.
Since the U16 champs are not until July, the final squads would not be named until closer to that time.

I know this doesn't relate to your question, but here is the AFL-AIS U18 squad that was announced last August.

The U16 squad for Vic Metro was named earlier in the week... I'll see if I can find a list.

Another kid from the Falcons that might fit the bill is Campbell Floyd, has pace to burn and can go all day. Maybe not an early pick but a good later pick.(Has some height to)

Yeah, he sounds exactly the type we need.

It's quite amusing, we actually need a draft full of outside types with pace. The exact type that we as a collective hated Terry Wallace drafting.

Would be curious to see what Danny Meyer would do if he was picked in 2014 as a 18 year old. Just reckon it turns out differently.

Maybe although Meyer got a second shot and muffed it, as did Tambling, JON & to a lesser degree Fiora. I think this situation can be easily remedied in the draft, guys like Hill & Smith were second rounders, we just need to be a bit more creative with the players who we're targeting.

Campbell Floyd. You could fry an egg on that name

:hihi

me and snake were just discussing our draft strategy for this year and we settled on this

take 5 lightening fast, duel sided black fellas. It has cultural advantages as well as increasing the likelihood we get 2 rippers.

Had an interesting conversation with someone involved with the Falcons program today. Discussed how for what ever reason we don't rate/draft any of their kids. Scouts from most other clubs are regulars at training and games but not us. You would think the kids coming out of such a successful program would be in demand for a club like ours.
While talking about the Falcons he recons the kid McCartin is a beauty, really sticky hands and a great country kid. Gone past Goddard as a player apparently.

Interesting tenchy but it's too far for our recruiters to drive to watch.

Dylan Hodge is another beauty from Falcons, they have a good bunch of Geelong Grammar kids that are pretty decent.

I'm sure the issue of Francis not talking to the falcons about their players was raised and addressed before. It's not that our recruiters don't go and watch the falcons, it's that we don't speak to anyone at the club about their players. One of, or the only club to operate like that from what I recall. Don't know if it's like this with all junior clubs or just the falcons... Maybe they talk too much spin about their kids or maybe we are going about it the wrong way... :-\

Might be something to do with old history with a certain manager or whatever he is at the Falcons. We've certainly had very limited direct involvement with those in charge. Possibly the only reason we have bugger all of their juniors at Tigerland could simply be the rating and availability if certain players at the time of our pick.

are you saying the tigers cant get over Turners outside, hand-bagging wingman days?

This may change now that Luke Williams is part of our recruiting department. He spent a decade under Stephen Wells at Geelong and it's no secret how much they rate the local talent down there.

McCartin's an interesting one, gun junior, but he's diabetic. Could he cope with the rigours of an AFL lifestyle?

He wouldn't be the only one, he does have to check his blood sugar levels once a quarter though. And judging by how we're playing we'll just about have our pick of anybody we want!!
