classy, skilled, small, FAST draft prospects

Cyroli is beyond special, he's delicious.
Definitely something we lack is the small explosive type that can do stuff all for three n a half quarters but open a game up in ten minutes no matter how hard the opposition try to sit on him.

Walters-Ballantyne
Rioli
Stokes-Motlop-Christiansen
Who do the Swans have? Jetta but he was injured

I wouldn't be too concerned about his weight TM, class will always shine in the end. Kelly & Aish aren't heavyweights either but will go 2 & 3 in the draft. In fact Aish has been playing seniors since the age of 16 and has been dominating in a winning team, he's one guy well equipped for the onslaught of taggers he'll receive.

If we really want the most physical guy in the pool, it would have to be Freeman, he's built like a tank and is truly explosive. The fact that he's already got a very impressive endurance base means there shouldn't be any Dustin Martin-like half-time fade-outs. To be honest, I'm thinking his impressive combine results will put us out of the running.
Nah, misread me Bullus, not worried about his weight as in his physical size. Just a concern that even as a sparrow sized player he's having a metatarsal bone in his foot pinned at 18 y.o. Put him up to mature AFL size n prob 80 kegs with suspect feet on the concrete grounds n there's a question mark. Hopefully not a major prob for the kid as he seems to fall comfortably within our first pick range n the more options the better.

Guys with his height usually drop to the third round

Not these days DDT, think Prestia, Hrovat & Devon Smith and you'll get some idea of where he'll go.

Evidence-based. I wouldn't have thought anyone would question that he has talent. I'd like to talk about other prospects on this thread, there is a DG thread with plenty of legs.

Thanks TS - I know nothing about the kids so appreciate those that do and are willing to share their thoughts.

I know it's a silly thing to say, but I'm gonna say it anyway. I reckon any sub 180 player we take for this role should be 1. Absurdly duel sided to the point it's like playing on an agile octopus (not so silly) and 2. indigenous.

On point 1, Lewis Taylor fits the bill, he'd be up there with the best on his non-preferred. On point 2, he might have different skin pigmentation but he doesn't lack the zippiness one would expect from the indiginous players. His acceleration is top shelf and he has has the footy smarts to make hay in heavy traffic. He's as well-rounded as any of the midfielders in the draft, his height may be a concern to some but I look at things differently. There may have been a time 5 years ago where short players were overlooked for the 6 foot athletic types, but guys with a lower centre of gravity tend to be better clearance players when the ball hits the deck. They're also better at milking free kicks given the current interpretation of the head high rule.

Sounding more and more appealing the more you post Paul Bullus! Good stuff.

We actually have plenty of 6ft athletic types-this type of player is exactly what we need.

Leysy will go with <180cm guys need 1) Pace 2) skills 3) decent kicking depth 4) be strong over ball.

Tick those boxes & you can find yourself a player generally going later than he should.

Any love for Hartung? Or is he a reach at our pick? Will he be there for our late 2nd round (if we have one) or third round?

He'll be available, and yes I believe he's AFL quality. Where he fits in the rankings will be interesting, his inside game probably isn't of the calibre of Taylor & Freeman so that pushes him down a peg or two. But a club wanting an extremely polished user of the football will take the plunge I'm sure. As for our chances of grabbing him in the second round, I'd say it's highly unlikely that he'll be available.

Classy, skilled, small, fast players (another way of saying good rovers), don't have to be black, but a lot of them are. Aker, Harvey, Ballantyne are a few that spring to mind. I like Bullus's Taylor/ Kennedy-Harris combo thinking (with another as a rookie maybe), that sort of thing is what I'd like to see. Players with pace, skill and unpredictability are our biggest need, go for the rovers I say.

I would seriously doubt that Hartung gets past the first round. In fact gut feel says that this might be one that Jackson is keeping a close eye on. For me its either Salem or Hartung for our first pick.

Anyway for those interested a write up I found on Hartung.

Any crow eaters following Dwayne Wilsons progress? I assume hes running in the SAFL?

Surely the one we must have a big red circle around after 2 rounds is Clem Smith. Seems to be everything we don't have.

Lewis Jetta-quick, poised, goal kicking, good by hand and foot, breaks lines/tags? What's a Clem Smith?

No doubt we do. Problem is we'd probably have to lose all our games for the rest of the year to land him!

No we wouldn't,their will be quite a few taken before him, their are quite a few decent small forward/mid types this year.

odds frees for and ag stats last year in wafl colts. Season frees for 3, season frees against 17. A typo, or is he trying to do much?
