Changes Vs West Coast Eagles

Earlier in the season when he was in the vfl he had a poor game where as an example he gave away a really bad 50 by letting his frustration get to him. This is the issue.
This is the final piece of the puzzle for him. He is a burst forward and he is going to have times where he doesn’t impact. The lesson for him is that when that happens you work hard, do the basics. He isn’t doing that and after watching him live last Sunday I was disappointed in him in this aspect of his game.
How he reacts to this will define him going forward
Our forward line was like witches hats with the ball coming out last Sunday. He was only one part but it was clear to me he wasn’t working hard enough.
He is massively valuable to us going forward, forwards who can kick multiple goals in bursts are great weapons, but he can’t just be an occasional offensive weapon.
You can use the words rubbish and stupid all you like, I am just giving you my opinion.
Yep Cumbo was the only forward against GC that didn’t chase and apply pressure

It’s how you react then which is the issue Merveille.

Keep working don’t work less

Same with Sonsie. He got schooled by a bloody good professional in Bobble. Use it to get better

It’s a lesson, I hope they learn from it because we will be better for it if they do
Sonz isn’t a winger neither is Ross but hey let’s continue to play them out of position

Come on mate. Giving away a 50?? Half our team should be dropped for that discretion.

What you are doing is focusing on the one negative aspect to his game in which he perhaps overreacts to losing a contest or missing a goal etc. Kid has only started playing senior football. It is obvious his battle is mental which is probably the biggest weakness for most if not all youngsters starting out their career.
We are expecting Noah to become our forward saviour because the coaches have decided to try and play our slowest players in the one forward line. I could say the same thing about MRJ who was asked to provide the pressure of 2-3 players who couldn't chase. Overran himself and now has a hamstring injury.
To me Dimma has gone away from his philosophy on concentrating on his players strengths rather than weaknesses. We can say he is trying to educate Noah by dropping him for poor form but the reality is i have never seen Dimma so blatantly refuse to give praise to a player when they have played well. You could tell he was itching to get him out of the seniors. One bad game and he is done. Yeah he went quiet in the Dees game but at the end of the day he had done his job with 3 goals. What has Mansell done in all the games he has played?
Just seems everything we had done to change the mentality and culture at the end of 2016 has slowly gone out the door. Dimma talking about vulnerabilities and embracing your weaknesses etc. Seems to have gone back to his fickle ways and doesn't game day show that. Funny thing is, Dimma is probably just as bad as Noah in cracking the sooks.

Our side is down, there are plenty of people kicking us at this moment. Supporters have a right to have their say. We must hang tight (supporters, team, admin) we can get out of this hole. Let's pick one positive thing each player did in the suns game.
for me it was Broad coming back and playing a great game. What's yours?

THINK POSITIVE, THINK OF 2017 TO 2020 OF HOW WE RULED, THINK OF GOOD TIMES TO COME.

Some, as I said post match we actually matched them well around the ball and a number of players had decent games. The biggest issue was our lack of work rate when we didn’t have the ball. I suspect a couple of paid the price for that.
But there are some who didn’t have great games for sure.
Powell was just about BOG, pretty sure they were matched up for a decent portion of the game.

I wouldnt be playing Miller this week, but Cumberland was dropped cos he was poor on Sunday, and poor for 3 quarters against the Dees, and I reckon cos they think he can do a lot better.

Great stuff Dimmau

Agree totally on players being played to their weaknesses... and agree with Sin.

Are the players learning though?

Miller clearly keeps his place on the basis of team balance, Young out, Miller stays.

Interesting question there from K3, are our players learning?

We all know that different people learn in different ways, I figure the conclusion is that Miller is being given chances as more likely to learn with positive reinforcement, maybe they conclude Cumberland is the opposite, or maybe it is just what he needs to learn is not supported by giving him games when he does not perform.

That said, in a week when the VFL is not playing I would have the youngsters in. WCE are not playing well and have a big injury list, could get some confidence into our players. I would persist with Cumberland and at least have him as sub - here Noah, you're sub, now prove us wrong.

I don't get the Ralphsmith selection. Put him in the VFL (ok, not this week) and tell him to attack the ball and get involved, prove you can get your body over the ball and are willing to plough in to win the ball and you get another chance.

Dow has been playing well in the VFL, he can't do any more than that. I have my doubts but he has clearly improved, give him a shot. I would definitely pick Dow over Ralphsmith.

Ross should not be allowed on the wing, if you play him, put him in the middle, too slow as a wing.

If they are going to move Pickett away from the wing, how about into the middle. I reckon Pickett can be a decent defensive forward, but he is a better wing and I reckon a better centre.

All in all a bit baffling. I'll be there but I want to see more system and more application than I saw last week.

Maybe Pickett and Dow run the wrong patterns , maybe Pickett gets confused by the midfield set-ups..
These are instinct players - Dimma circa 2016 is stats and process man, not instinct.
And my God aren’t we playing like it

Extremely baffling. Especially the selections and nominated positions.

The first thing we did in 2017 as a reaction to 2016 was to go forward at all costs and by any means. As a starting point, I'd like to see us get back to that.

Foot complaint for Soldo....nuh.....they effed up realising it's gonna rain, so lessen the talls.

Well that should calm things down on here a bit. Worrying for Soldo though.
Worrying for us, we need Soldo (at full fitness) rucking in the weeks ahead. Hopefully it is a preventative rest off a 6 day break, saving him for Friday night. (assuming this change is confirmed?)

Coming back from a foot problem , out with a foot issue is a concern for Soldo. Hindsight would say a half in the ressies might have been a better option and then assess

Rushed Soldo back and apparently back out again with the same foot issue?

Yeah definitely bad for team, and not a good look for the fitness staff again.

Perhaps he just doesn't have the body for AFL footy. There's a lot of weight bearing down on those legs.
