You think posters on the game day thread will be that patient?

I mute a fair few during the match day threads, so I reckon Qtr time is about right for the Brightsiders to pull the dud delist line

No. There is no such thing as now. Only the future. And the past.

See …you just missed it. And again…and….

Time is only a stamp of the past or the future. Ask Taylor Swift. She gets it.
Where’s Marty McFly when you need him

Surely we have the youngest side we’ve had in a for a very long while this week?

Whilst excited by these debuts I also wonder if privately the club has recognised there will be no premiership this year so future planning becomes the priority. The news on Lynch this week would have amplified what was already a highly unlikely scenario. They’d never say never but the priority shifts.

Hard to say until you see the outs but Banks or Brown were the likely replacements for Short.

Nah, as WT said, i reckon Banks is just next in line for a spot across half back. Ralphsmith is probably the only other option, but i dont think playing Banks over Ralphsmith is a sign we are giving in.
Likewise Bauer up front (assuming that is where he will play) couldnt possibly make as any worse than either of Ryan or Miller at this point.

Feels a bit this way, reckon we,ll see a few more debutants and a younger team for the rest of 2023.

I didn't say we are giving it in.

Jack is still out most likely play to kick a match winning score. Miller has never kicked more than 2 goals in a game, and he has only kicked goals in 2 out of 9 games this year. Our best passage to goal in terms of talls forward of the ball is Jack and Ryan.

Our balance was way out of whack in the forward line on Thursday. We looked good a couple of weeks ago against Freo when we only had Jack and Ryan (with Pickett as the medium), we then looked good against the Saints (with Miller in for Pickett, though Ryan only played half the game anyway).

I think we should debut Bauer and he would go into that 3rd tall / medium role. So Pickett is out and then its a choice of Miller or Ryan. Ryan has the bigger upside and also kicks a lot more goals so stays in for me.

The other 3 forwards we need smalls, so Clarke and Baker are 2 of them, and need 1 of MRJ / Coulthard needs to join them IMO.

Our forward line is totally out of whack, and we need to rebalance it.

jack has kicked 5 goals from 8 of last 9 games
no goals in 5 of them

jacks 3 qtr pace ball demanding leads are telegraphed & allow oppo talls time to multi spoil.
team mates seem unsure of roles, timing of leads ...almost afraid to offend

time to coach fwd line off field jack

You can make any stats look like that. I could say that Ben Miller has only kicked goals in 1 game if you ignore the St Kilda game.

Let me ask you a different question. If Jack isn't playing, who takes the best defender, and therefore who else will kick goals for us? We have relied on midfield recently as we haven't had our forward setups right.

I'm not saying that Jack doesn't appear to have some burnout (the bye came at the right time for him, just the problem was we were so poor on Thursday that he didn't stand a chance), but who else do we have that will be able to kick multiple goals.

Bauer we need to be on a weaker defender (surely you don't want to give him their best defender?), Miller (has kicked goals in 2 of 9 games this year)? Ryan? (not strong enough yet).

The facts are that we don't have a lot of options and Jack is still the best that we have to play that role, and we need to acknowledge that he won't kick as many goals. He was expected to play as a 2nd or even a 3rd forward this year, with Lynch's injury he is having to play a role that he maybe isn't well suited to play, but he is our best option at that role right now.
