Seriously, are they holding onto one bloke getting free kicks for them to have any chance of beating us.
It’s a joke.
What’s the pensioner doing?

They struggled to kick goals last game - only managing 8.

It was a bees diaphragm from being a 50 point win I thought...

22 scoring shots to 15. We missed some sitters - Castagna, Rioli, Lynch, Bolton.

3 goals in 10 minutes - 2 of which were cheap...flattered them in the end.

Kick two of the sitters and remove the two cheap goals they scored quickly and it’s 50 point drubbing.

That being said - it’s a new challenge up there this weekend.

Interesting finals series as far as selections go. I can see all of Bolton, short and Kmac leaving the club if they miss out.

What do you mean crazy number of goals?
Seems a disproportionate statement for a team that kicked 55 points for the whole game

You're right what I should have said:

Considering their proportion of goals from stoppages (apologies I couldn't find actual score from stoppages but I recall at least 4 of their 8) no doubt we'd be focusing on closing that gap too so they'd need to find those goals from elsewhere. Thinking about it I reckon we leaked a few un-Richmond like stoppage goals against Eagles too. We need to bring a better defensive mindset to that phase of the game.

People have been worried about our F50 tackles against them, it was generally low because we marked a lot inside F50. Our F50 marks were similar to prior matches, but that was largely because in a lot of games we look for players in better positions and gain secondary marks within the same I50 whereas we got a lot of marks within the corridor against the Lions.

Think it was 1 but again the reason for that is Brisbane were trying to play the Pies way of keepings off in the backline. As a team we've learn from those Pies drubbings. We've learnt to back off on the pressure inside 50 when that happens and lay a wall a bit further back. That's not going to show up well in inside 50 tackle counts.

We have changed since 2017. Of course we did now that big Tom Lynch has joined the party.
No longer do we barrel it in and bring it to ground for a mozzie sting (it still happens of course).
Now we carry it by hand. It gives the oppo a chance to tackle, but less chance to intercept mark. And less chance for us to tackle.
Probably we spend more time in possession of the ball in our I50 than we did in 2017. Less tackles :)

On Sunday Brisbane went chip chip chopped.
Defensively we sat further back, as Tlove points out. Firstly there is no way for cheapie Cameron running back towards his goals. Did that happen last week? No we sat too deep for that.
And just as importantly Turnover is king. Not in our F50, but midfield where we outnumbered and stopped their run. Then the turnover came and boy did we run.

The only reason Brisbane kept the scores level for 3 quarters was due to us butchering so many goals especially early in the second. Jack missed two of his round the corner kicks, not just missed but they never looked like worrying the goal umpire. Castagna tries to tap the ball over an oppositions head to Lynch but taps through for a point. Lynch himself tries to mark the ball on the goal line but spills it through for a point, and if he had shepherded through it would have been a goal.

After all that Brisbane go forward and kick a goal. Frustration

Plenty more of that. We should have been a lot further in front.
Cameron’s 2 goal got through when a ball sneaked through grimesy’s hands.
Now grimes kills that ball 999/1000 times.
That won’t happen again.

from what I saw in the vfl on Saturday, I'll be really surprised if Kmac comes back in this year.

Yes, that one where the they overran the loose ball on the boundary and Cameron recovered quickly and Grimes kept going, I wondered if Grimes was hampered by his ankle and could not - or would not - make the instant sharp turn. Grimes is normally more agile than that

Have a look at their 2 2nd quarter goals too. Not from great Lions play but from horrible Tiger errors (which happens of course).

He let him kick one. They didn’t look like scoring.

Love all the optimism on here, but just remember the Lions finished 2nd. on the ladder and had some great wins.

Anyone who thinks we are hot favourites need to think again.

As mentioned by others believe the only change will be Nank In for Balta.

Shai will be borderline to continue to hold his spot if he is quiet again for most of the match.
I hope he turns the jets on and plays a blinder.

Pickett or Butler waiting in the wings to replace him imo.

Was a shocking bounce. Bounced sideways. Just extremely unlucky as he out positioned Cameron again. It happens.

Tigers are 1.65 Lions 2.25. We are favourites. Hot favourites? Those odds say no. West Coast 1.22 Essendon 4.60. Now that's hot favourite.
