Changes v Freo

Maybe Miller might get a crack.

Well if he's ever gonna play it'll be this week.

Been a whisper or two about him maybe playing, I guess we'll find out.

Plans will have been formulated as contingencies should Dave or Dion or both not make it back.

Grimeseys injury just puts a dent in it for a fortnight.

Higgo and Stackie might have missed the boat.

Higgo's lack of pace, slow decision making and at times poor disposal have probably hurt him this year but he certainly has done well on his return from a bloody serious health issue so kudos to the lad.

Stackie is nigh on toasted for the year, I reckon and as much as I love the kid and the way he goes about it when on, he just hasn't been anywhere near it this year in the 10 odd games he's had a few of those gifted to see if he could lift himself but he couldn't.

Has lost his place which is being warmed by Dow for a couple of weeks experience then it will be going to Edwards as soon as he's ready.

Dow, Grover, Aarts, and Markov are all ahead of them right now and they are all under threat of losing their places over the coming weeks to Edwards, Broad, Astbury, Caddy, and Prestia.
I agree Craig. I don't think Higgo or Stackie are best 22 come finals time. Interesting watching Peter Burge's report on the Club's site. Sounds like Grimesy is a chance for the Geelong game (although I reckon they will probably be conservative), Dave should be right for the Crows game, we know that Shedda is available for the Crows game and Dion sounds like he will be right for the first final, a small chance for the Crows game. The pleasing news on Dion is that the ankle injury has responded very well, they are just dealing with the infection now. Some fascinating selection decisions coming up. I suggest that the Club live stream the selection meetings so we can all find out what the selectors are thinking :)

Interesting that other sides have managed, rested, rotated their players around.
We haven't apart from the Captain and that was 1 week only.
Wonder why?
I suppose our injuries have forced us to do that to an extent but I reckon there is still a big number of players that have played every week.
Interesting the different strategies of the clubs.
If they are going to do it maybe 1 or 2 this week.
Can't see too many getting rested v the Power Stance boys in last round especially if there is a bye straight after.
2 weeks out is too long.
Your thoughts?

If we are on fire would Prestia automatically come in for The first final? I am as big a fan of him as any but first game in 3 months ....finals pressure intensity match fitness, cohesion etc... And he is a centre man nothing else.

If Prestia is any chance , any chance even just to play him 60% game time against the Crows i would have him play just to get run into his legs for the finals

Extremely important player to our flag chance this year

Reason being is that they are only having one main session due to the shorter turn around between games . Games are used to improve fitness base through managed rotations etc . Interesting Balta played 100% of game time last week . Something Rance would do often

We have three games left with 2 byes included in that run - I think we use the byes to rest our players before finals.

Interesting to see whether they would make four changes for the Adelaide game (which includes Grimes as I assume they will be conservative with hamstrings and he doesn’t play against Geelong). To bring in Shedda, Prestia, Astbury all at once after such a long lay off is a big ask for the team but I think they need to do it so they get some practise.

There will be some unlucky boys come the end of the season.

Burge was saying there not worried if he misses crows as they will play him in a scratch match hoping there is a bye before finals.

If a fit player is going to play finals he will very probably be selected now. At latest next week. RFC is big on a settled line up.

Caddy. Broad. In line this week or next.

Or in the doghouse. Hahahah. Who knows?

Edwards just will play. Prestia is not fit yet.

Taberner. Orthodox player. Gets numbers everywhere on his day and has a lot of days. But I still think we'd be unlucky if he turned up. I might even blame our coaching. Notorious show pony.

Lobb. What are they paying him? What position does he play? Ruck. He's terrrible. Forward pocket? Does that pay 800k pa? A joke. Can't get a kick. Classic GWS myth busted.

Unlike Carlton Freo has youth coming through. Notice how quiet Caleb Serong has been lately? He is 19yo. And the captain is well out of form. No help for the kid. Henry. Cox is interesting. Young. Truly talented youth. Fringe talent coming though too. And youthful.

If Nathan Fyfe would be so kind as to attend a football game they might beat a better opponent. No. Wait.

I think he'd have to. There are no other comps to get match fit and if you end up playing 3 finals (assuming wins) that doesn't leave much time to build form.

I think there are too many variables to call it now ,

Do your best to get him ready and assess it as it goes,

No doubt a fit Prestia walks straight back in , but we don’t know how well he is going to come up, and how well the team might be playing at that point in time without him

I didn't express my question too well... Should have said if we are on fire and Prestia cannot resume until the finals do we back the team that gets us there? And say he isn't fit until GF does him come in then?

yep. im not even scared of tempting fate.

Jayden Short could stand him and still gain 990m

lb4lb, R.Lobb has the smallest ticker in football by quite a way.

I liked him early on, before he got The Giants heart transplant.

I wonder if they could have turned Notorious Noah Balta into a timid, two-grab, role-less small?

Miller in for Grimes and think this will happen.
Not so likely is Chol and Stack for Soldo and Lambert.
If we can dominate Geelong in the ruck we will win. Soldo who has been gradually improving as the season goes on would be rested and ready against Geelong and Nankervis who had a great return on Thursday would further benefit from an 80% on ball game. Chol has been in and out of form for the last 3 years. But he is almost unique with his speed, size and disposal. I'd have him at centre half forward in the old and tell him to play it like Sheds.
Lambert the workhorse, had a great game against the Eagles, but still think he is carrying something.
Stack has been slowly improving after a poor pre season. At his best he rates with Bolton and Baker. This is a great opportunity for a last chance.
