Changes v Crows

Out Newman in Bean.

Lever will be a great match up for him.

Great test again next week due to arguably our best win in years, must come out with the same intensity an concentration , with the draw we have we are right up too our eye balls in top 4 if we can maintain the rage....no doubt the Crows will come out fired up at home after the performance yesterday

We've got some interesting selection dilemmas in the run home and finals.

First the Hampson Maric thing when we play against a dominant tap ruckman (Freo WC North). My view is we play only one specialist ruck and most times it will be Ivan.

Then IMO, disregarding Knights and Foley who look to be scratched because of injury, Corey Ellis, Edwards and Mcbean need to be fitted in.

Again IMO there are only two players whose omission would make us better, Newman and Houli. Hardwick does not share my view on Houli.

Hunt is marginal but structurally he is important as are B Ellis and Kmac who are insulated in a way against temporary poor form.

So Dimma will probably rob Peter to pay Paul and we would replace natural forward or class user like Lloyd or Lennon for Shed Ellis and Beanie.

Like Thomas before Miles, Mcguane and Azza & Hampson before Beanie, Petterd before Lennon and Madonna, and Newman manning the barricades against the young talented hordes our Finals team would probably be Shed and Hamspon in for Lloyd and Lennon.

As for this week Beanie for Newman stands out likes a dog's proverbials but we know it is unlikely to happen.

Agree on Maric vs Hampson - now Ivvy looking like the Mullet of Old he'll get the nod. But you still might see Dimma pick both and swap them in and out of the forward line.

Hunt won't be dropped - he is better than his disposal errors suggest. But Menadue or others might take this role next season if Hunt doesn't improve.

Your attitude towards Houli is ludicrous, but each to their own. :hihi

Shed will come in, probably for Lloyd.

We know Dimma is conservative about having a blend of youth and experience - so he won't try to force Cellist, Connor, Lambert, Lennon into one side on game day particularly when the season gets willing towards and into finals. Hence Newman gets retained to play a role.

Beano - next year I reckon.

Cant believe the negativity on Newwy. Thought he did some really good things on and off the ball. Provides Calmness and composure around the ground and at the contest. His experience is vital and his example is crucial. Don't know how many games the knockers have played but it cant be many'.

Yep, gets too the point that trying to debate it is just a waste of time.

I thought Newman was ok but people don't have to have played the game to have an opinion.

How many games have you played Tails to make your opinion worth more than the rest of us? There was no composure from Newman, if there was how'd he get under 50% disposal efficiency (lowest on the ground - including Hawks)? He was very poor, it's not about negativity, it's about stating what you see. The game has passed Newman, it's pretty obvious. He's holding on to a spot by the skin of his teeth.

Thing is we wont win the premiership kicking 10 goals a game.

Like Lyon has experienced, if Dimma doesn't modify his iron rule, we'll fall just short.

Beanie should be playing but wont. A very good post on the forum that can be named showing Beanie's consistent output since 2013.

However Shed and Ellis must play to create goal scoring chances. I think they will.

As always Houli will cost us big games.

On Newy , I love him, great player for a long time. His competitiveness composure and kicking ability meant i was always relaxed when he was in the contest.

His body just is letting him down. Getting outbodied, cant make or stay on the contest and he is constantly under pressure because his body wont do what it once did and butchering kicks he would never have in his prime.

At present he has no role and no form. Lennon, LLoyd, Lambert and rotating mids all play his role. Structurally we need another tall. Really structurally and on form Newman for Mcbean is a no brainer.

Agree. I thought Newman's chasing was quite impressive in terms of speed and commitment. The point is, you want a player to actually get the pill and use it well. I've always liked Newman. However, his days are past and he holds back the development of our list.

He payed his best game last week in 3 years because he contributed by kicking two goals. Apart from that game he has done sweet f**k all in 3 years.

Hard to see to many changes in the next two weeks with the ressies having a bye this week .

Happy Conca is back. We needed an injection of inside grunt.

I'd swap McBean for Lloyd against Gold Coast, but not now. Lloyd could kick 10-20% of our score - as a sub.

Hopefully this week we can show Dangerfield we're going places.

It's really hard to see our conservative coach changing a team that just beat Hawthorn no matter how good Beanie is atm.
Despite a moderate game I doubt he will drop Vickery after just 1 week back but he's sure want to perform against the Crows.
No change is likely.
