Hate to say it but the Ryder injury might turn the result in our favour here.
Watching the game I was extremely worried about Paddy tearing Nank apart.
Marshall will still be hard work mind you.

Safe to say I'm very concerned about how the Soldo injury has effected our Premiership hopes.

The Hawkins push took out one of our most important cogs.
He was the player that was able to go behind the ball.
How many other ruckman have destroyed NitNat this year?
Huge loss.

Broad in to play on Pickett‘s wing and goes down back for 5 minutes each quarter to allow Balta into the ruck to spell Nank.
It just seems so obvious to me.

I think lynch for chol will be it ,

He will back everyone to lift
You have to take into account that the vast majority of those wins we're when we were rubbish and Carlton were a better team.
yeah its a bit like the media reading too much into our 15-0 record ( whatever it was ) against Brisbane ,

The reality is it was 3-0 since they became a premiership contender

My only concern is if we move Balta up the field is King.
King was pretty good early for the Saints and looms as a threat.
Balta is the only one with the height & athleticism to combat King.

Yes, completely agree. I reckon if one of Soldo or Lynch played on Friday night we win the game. Harris Andrews showed total disrespect to our forward line and basically said to himself "No Lynch, stop Jack at all costs and we win". In fairness, he Alex Ranced us.

Lynch back now solves a huge problem.
Soldo not back til 2022 is a massive loss

I think we need to find the right balance - covering their forwards and ensuring their backs are broken and stopped. We know their backs are three talls, so having Tom in and with Jack will help, but do we need another tall who will defend or as a forward? The combinations are CAD & Broad & Balta. How do we play them? Could Broad be second ruck and defensive forward?, Could Balta play on King and go second ruck, with Astbury taking King and Broad taking Astbury' opponent? Could CAD play wing and Pickett in backline when Balta is in ruck and doing some time in the forward line?
What about our smalls:- Jake, Kane, Shai, Daniel, Jason. Two will have to go out for the above to take place.
However, with Ryder out, I think it will be Lynch, Broad or CAD in and out will be Jake, Chol. This may mean that King goes in Ruck, if so Balta could match him there.

In: Lynch, Caddy
Out: Chol, Aarts

I'm keen to see Broad back but not sure who to swap. McIntosh, Pickett, Lambert could all be candidates
Get tough on Pickett. Undisciplined and poor disposal esp. last game. Bolton treading a fine line as well, needs to smarten up. Broad proven finals player and will be hungry to excel and we need his strength v Saints bigger bodies.

Yeah well if Caddy was really dropped after the Port game because of the fifties he gave away, Pickett is surely to be replaced this week.

Caddy takes Marlion’s wing - played in a Premiership there, so knows the role.

Lynch in for Chol obviously.

Broad in for Aarts. Offers us flexibility. Didn’t he play a relief ruck role earlier in the year? He could be the one to give Nank a hand. He could also go onto a wing if Caddy is needed forward. Broad’s running capacity is there.

Only concern is that we might be too tall, but no way Chol plays, and Nank will need a spell at some point.
Sounds good and we won't be too tall given the size of Saints players.

might have been mentioned already... but with Ryder out. Does this mean King goes in as second ruck to offer assistance to Marshall as required? If so- cant Balta just play on King the entire game and go into the ruck when King does? unless I'm missing something here as to who plays second ruck for the Saints now Ryder is down?

they have used Battle as back up ruck.

I am concerned that we may have become too predictable. I am also certain that Butler has a great insight into how dimma thinks. Trust the system, trust the players to play their role . I would like our coaches and mc to do due diligence and be prepared to make positional changes if and when
needed. Pro active not reactive.

if so- we could feasibly play a McIntosh or Pickett (Grigg role) as second ruck; as Battle is "only" 193cm & 92kg? i think the St. Kilda second ruck role will play a tad with our final team selection.
