Changes for Dreamtime

Sonsie to come in for Hopper.

Nank if ready to replace Miller.
Would be good to see an aggressive Nank back rampaging around but maybe Miller could slot into defence as we still have tall holes there. Sonsie has talent but needs to prove he wants it on the big stage and right now I don't think he is ready. Happy to be proven wrong though. Maybe another of our cubs will get blooded this week but as I have not watched the VFL so I can't say who.

would like to see Banks come in for Hopper.
Nankervis is a warrior. Ruckwork is average last 12 months.

I dunno about Nank straight back in.

Sampson is a better ruckman.

Nanks a warrior and a leader. But we have a few of those in the side.

Our turn around in form has coincided, directly or otherwise, with a Ruckman who can tap to advantage.

If Nank is 100% fit, he comes in. If he's carrying anything, I don't see the necessity. He hasn't been anywhere near his best for a season and a half anyway.
I agree I wouldnt rush Nank straight back in unless he is 100%, which he couldnt be after not playing for 6 weeks.- also it would be at Miller's expense after his best game this year. maybe a light run in the reserves getting him primed for the next couple before the bye.

But I reckon folks are pretty harsh on Nank's early season form- he got coaches votes in all 3 games he played fit. English took over at half time when Nank had done his injury and we struggled against opposition rucks until the last 2 weeks. Yes, Ryan is looking good, and should continue to get plenty of ruck work, but we will be a better team with Nank in it.

agree, Nank in only if he is fit. why risk at this stage. We need another mid to balance the side. Sonsie & Dow are the only two. Not sure why Dow didn't play (injured?), then Sonsie.

Draper is more mobile and physical than Ryan. That's the only reason I would consider Nank.

Ryan already looks a better forward (or will be) and he is two years younger.

Out Hopper
In Sonsie

If Nank is fit he comes in for Miller, but I can't see many tactical changes on this one. We will back our system and we seem to have finally got the team balance right this season.

This for mine..............

Dow and Young didn't play yesterday, after Hoppers injury on Friday night.
Clarke did, although he played nearly a half on Friday night. 2 of these 3 look likely to be in the 23.

I'd go with Dow if fit.
Starting too see the reasons why Sonsie slipped too 28 sadly.
Wouldn't give him a game until his work rate improves.
If Dow not fit i'd move Ross too the Hopper role & give Banks a run.

Dow was listed as injured on the VFL team release last Friday. Not sure what happened to him but might be injured, otherwise he was probably the likely replacement for Hopper

Assuming then Dow was left out because of injury, seems to point to Young as the Hopper replacement, with Clarke to sub again?

I'd be very surprised if we changed our structure by bringing Young back when we've just got our balance right.

More likely, we'll put trust in someone like Sonsie to come back and perform better than the last time he played.

Yeah, we've just shut down the best pair of big forwards in the league, I doubt we will be looking to change our tall back structure.

Sonsie was pretty ordinary yesterday with
Cumberland not much better.
We shall see.

I too want to see Dow in to see what he got for the few weeks Hopper is out. Been playing the same position as Hopper and has been playing well in tandem with Sonsie. Given Sonsie's effort against gold coast, dow should get the next opportunity.

We've won every Dreamtime match since 2015. reckon we could play our VFL team and beat Essendon this year.

Yes but its structure over personal. Its been Dimmas MO for a very long time, he trusts the process more than anything and our setup was the best it has been all season on Friday. Highly unlikely we will change it, however good Young has been. He's shown he has a future in the AFL (hence the extension) but our best team at the moment doesn't have him in it unfortunately.

It will come down to whether he's injured or not.

Friday night when the team came out he was listed as injured (before the AFL), so he wasn't left out because Hopper got injured. He was left out because he was. No idea what injury though as nothings been said. Interesting to see the injury update tomorrow.

Has MRJ recovered? I would expect him to be picked for the occasion. and Nank if he's fit.

In: Nank, Clarke (MRJ is the Sub).
Out: Hopper (inj), Miller (stiff, but the crap weather forecast goes against him).

How tall are the Bongers playing at the minute?

Mighht not need to worry about bringing Young back in.

Broady back has the backline back to 2019 2020 dimensions Vlas Grimes Balta and Broad is Vlas Grimes Astbury and Broad.
That was my thinking. Broad, Balta with Grimes and Vloss who can play on talls. Young may not be needed. Miller plays, Soldo at best has 60% AFL fitness in him, don't rush Nank back if not ready. Ross and Hugh did enough to keep their spots, for now. Unless there are other injuries we are not aware of its just Hoppers spot we need to replace for this milestone game ( Vlastuin's 200th )
