Changes against Collingwood.

I just cant see Hardwick leaving Tarrant out.

Our selections last week were bold and it worked - Dimma will move forward

They clearly identified our forward pressure was a weakness allowing teams to walk out of our defence and the changes worked (even against a sub standard team). To rest Tarrant when we played a team with Darling and Kennedy in it was brave.

Personally I can’t see a place in the team for Tarrant when both Grimes and Vlas are in and we have Gibs and Broad playing as well plus the two rucks.

We lack balance, agility and speed with 3 tall forwards, 2 rucks and Tarrant in the backline.

It will be a very interesting selection meeting this week and will tell us a little more about how we want to play out the rest of the season.

For our next 3 games, I wouldn’t be surprised if we win all 3 or lose all 3.

The first 2 against the Pies and Hawks, if we play slow we lose. They are both 50:50 games imo, they both move the ball with speed and neither has big gorilla forward lines. Cameron kicked 2 out of 17 goals for the pies whilst Koschitzke (196 and 96kg) did kick 4 out of 11 for the Hawks, he is the only one so Balta would get him I would have thought.

The question is does Cotch and Martin coming in make us slower - maybe - definitely if Tarrant comes in as well - we can’t sacrifice too much speed and expect to win.

So I only see 2 changes this week.

Could Pickett be the sub? - pretty versatile if he was.

Its a pity the win was over the West Coast - I suggest any of our 42 or so players could have got the 4 point last Friday. Clearly we had issues v Melbourne, the balance was not right. We have now moved Balta and Baker back. - tick. Stack and Maurice up forward - tick. Two genuine rucks but different style of ruckmen. I love Broad in the team but he was a little fumbly - could be make way for Tarrant ( I hope not).

Its been some time since we have had this dilemma. It s a good problem but also one where we can win or lose the game at the selection table.

Broad has to stay in. He's been our most dependable defender for 6 of our 7 games. Reckon the defence balance is right. Tarrant will have to wait until we have an injury there.

Balta stays back. Him, Grimes and The Gib work way better than when Tarrant was down there.

I dont disagree with you re: Tarrant but we lured him over from North and sold him the dream. I cant see him running around in the VFL in Round 7.

Yep, same, I can see him coming in and Balta getting moved back to the forward line. Don’t agree with it, just think it’ll happen.

Sold him the dream, and followed up our end of the bargain with his inclusion in the first six matches.
He hasn't been what we hoped he would be; unsurprisingly at 33, he is looking a tad slow and fumbly.
I'd categorise his first six matches as "just keeping up", and we all cut him some slack as he adjusted to "our system'.
If there was one game you'd think would have suited Tarrant to play against slow gorilla's and where he could be hidden away, it was v WCE, but the side looked a lot better balanced for his exclusion.
And the Pies forward set-up is more mobile than WCE.
Plus his previous form suggests he stays out.
Agree, it will be fascinating to see whether Dimma brings him back this week - he shouldn't imo, but he may not be able to resist his conservative urges.

Our side looked the best it has been for months end right balance Tarrant is no automatic selection.

If Tarrant does come back who goes out? Can’t see MC wanting to change from Balta, Gibcus, Grimes, Vlas, Broad and Rioli

Tarrant took our deal because we offered 2 years opposed to 1 from Norf. Unless he chooses to retire he gets paid for 2 years thats all our obligation to him is.

North actually changed their offer to 2 years but Tarrant wanted a chance to play finals football and knew he wouldn't get that if he stayed. His selection or non selection will be an interesting watch this week.

More a Tarrent thread comment but for me, a few times live and the rest on TV he looks like he is wearing lead boots. Just can move as I thought he could or like others, at 32 time has caught up with him.

We told Houli he was going to play midfield.
Haha stooged him didn't we.
He'll be sitting back now and wondering if he might have played mid if he'd stayed with the bombers
