Callum Coleman-Judas - extricate yourself to Nth Ballarat, you git

Not knocking CuJo who by reports is tracking better than hoped.
And i've taken a quote from Bully completely from another thread...but with respect

Whats the thought about a contested mid like worpel?
Built a strong season in the reserves, and made a super debut in the vfa this week.

Last november i wouldve swapped cujo with worpel.
Who would now?

In real time Worpel is five months older than CJ. I reckon, td, that in terms of football maturity the gap is more like five years. As usual draft choices are real tough to compare in the first year. Much more so when it's forward/ruck vs heavy mid.

As a footballer CJ is about eleven years of age. He is one of the least mature youngsters I've ever seen at the club. And I'm comparing him to Seymour and Mabs. Infants. About six weeks ago I saw close up that CJ fluffed a 4m handball because he couldn't lift his arm. From running. Since then he's most done most of his running away from the ball. And he's naturally rugged.

I was bleeding that we took a ruck in the ND. That's the kind of drafting that landed us Vickery. Sniffens. It landed Port Lobbe! You never ND a ruck. It's proven. It's established. It's incontrovertible. It's a *smile*'s act.

I haven't even demonstrated the greatest problem with an ND ruck. It's that they give so little optimal service for all the substandard game time development they get. They're fragile. Injured all the time. And usually still on the park.

Anyway, I was bleeding when we took a ruck.

Having said that I like this CJ. Smart. Rugged. Small game and smarts. Those inside steals were freak. Let's hope we keep him light and agile and focus on his ground game so he doesn't become a ruck. He's a promising kid. FWIW I'm not sure I like Worpel.

Only saw a little of yesterdays game but he looks the goods in the ruck, gets his hands on the ball which unfortunately as much as Nank is a soldier and a worrier he stuggles to against the taller/better rucks in the game. Recon he'll be a beauty in a few years when Nanks finished.

Is mentioned in club corner! Does this mean he may get a game soon?? Moore, Garth, Baker had mentioned. Are they getting him ready for the finals?

Nope.

He was the stand out junior ruck in the draft imho.

Everyone went Gaga over the Port kid instead.

Hayes was in the bottom 5% in terms of aerobic capacity, his spindly frame another reason he drifted to the third round. CCJ has great mitts, that would be his best asset. My concern at the time was his gut running & the fact he's still on a modified program hasn't allayed those fears. Hopefully he can lift his beep above 14 because that is a prerequisite for sole rucks. Don't fancy his chances as a forward-ruck given his kicking technique is dicey. Ruck or bust, fingers crossed.

Promising signs, 18 disposals, 3 marks, 5 tackles, 10 hit outs and a goal are pretty good numbers.
I didn't see the game, but with Soldo's 36 hit outs i'd say CCJ played most of the game forward. It's just a hunch but i think he is going to be a forward/ruck more than a ruck/forward.

Went to the game.

Thought everyone bar Miles were pretty average to poor.

Balta did a few nice things too.

Thanks MR DE.
it was just a conjecture, we obvs have CJ and hope he continues to develop. thanks for the viewpoint.
I havent seen any of worpel (living in europe living only on tigers and swans matches).
But we could do with a strong inside mid for generation Rioli - to work with Jack Graham. worpel seemed to fit that hole. here's hoping we made a good call!

I think you underestimate how good Otto was when he arrived on the scene.

Watch the Richmond season 2001 it's virtually a DvD of his highlights.
He was a great mark and even better kick at goal.
Till he skewed himself....

From my hazy memory thought he made AA that year

Nice highlight clip of this young tall on the club site. After a slow start to the season I absolutely loved the way he built into the season.
Has some excellent traits & think he'll learn plenty from the likes of Tom Lynch.
Be wonderful if his development came on quicker than expected. One to watch IMO.

He was immense.
I recall vickery had a impressive start too.
Crashed a bit after the cox hit
The trouble with TV was he had no heart for a contest and was essentially a lazy footballer. In CCJ's first season he has shown more

CCJ is the main reason why I wouldn't go drafting big with our first pick.

Exciting first year with limited prep. Set and forget. I just want to see a change in body shape.

To put it into perspective and set expectations there was only 7 players over 196cm aged between 18-20 who played senior football last year. Harry McKay the most with 13. Three of those seven only played 2 or 1 games. Big blokes take time.

CCJ turns 20 halfway through next year. Look for dominant patches at VFL level. But I'm excited about what he can be at 22.

Whilst i can see where you are coming from Scoop i wouldnt mind Williams and can see a Williams/CCj Combo working well in 2-3 years time
Im not sold on Nank being a long term Ruckman at Richmond.
Whilst he tries his heart out and gives every drop im thinking we will need to upgrade eventually
