Bye Bye Jack Higgins!

Stephenson had a good season last year and looks a great prospect - I’m not sure he likes things when the going gets tough.... all in all I have to say I’m pretty happy we got Snags.

Hitting tom lynch on the ear with a handball was unbridled footballing genius

Higlet goes AA in year 2

Interesting observation from Matthew Lloyd.

After 82 games, Patrick Cripps has played in 18 wins.

After 21 games, Jack Higgins has played in 18 wins.

What a time to be alive!
That Cripps fella needs to broaden his horizons, obviously playing in the wrong place at the wrong time. Happy to have him at Tiger land if he's willing to take a pay cut to get a taste of how the other side of the footy world operates.

He's a hell of a footballer. Take him without the pay cut.

Reported he's on around a $mil per season. So who and how many go out to fit him into the salary cap?
We've already had a fair cleanout of players for Lynch and some contract upgrades and we still have a few to re-sign

And that's why Carlton will be average for a very long time. With Cripps and Curnow taking up so much of their salary cap, how will they keep hold of their other young guns?

I know that Murphy's retirement will help, but they'll end up being the next GWS, having to shed talent every year because they can't keep them and they'll have to pay overs to keep players in an underachieving environment.

Its fair that Cripps gets paid, he's a top 5 player in the competition I reckon.

Love the ingenuity displayed by Higgins on a footy field. There is something extraordinary about this young fella.

He would have been a lot of fun to watch as a junior. I would like to see a highlights package from the U12's.

East Malvern Knights lad. Was energetic and enthusiastic but not necessarily exceptional. Worked his a$$ off and has had a specialist running coach from U/15 to address his lack of athleticism. Probably had to develop his football smarts to compensate for lack of natural running ability. Lost track of him after U/16s and goes without saying the hard work has payed off handsomely.
Bailey Smith from last years draft a much more dominant junior at the same club and highly decorated over his entire junior career. Exceptional athlete and played his entire junior career underage. Bailey also works his a$$ off but relies on his elite combination of speed and endurance to rack up numbers.
Keep an eye out for another Knight in this years draft. Jack Mahoney. IMHO more naturally talented than the other two at junior level. He played a half as an underage for Vic Metro in last years champs and did very well. Not sure of his athletic profile these days as boys develop so differently once they hit puberty.

Thanks for that. I always find it amazing when I hear that these guys don't dominate as juniors.

TBH Jr played with Jack Mahoney. Super kid who carried the team. He got targeted by other teams but just got back up and on with it. He reminded me of Selwood (physically as well as the way he played) except he had a real burst of speed and a decent hoof: too quick for me when I ran the boundary.

He'd just had a growth spurt when Jr last played with him (U14 or U15), and his Dad was a midget and thought Jack might not grow much more! I'd love to see him become a Tiger.

If I remember correctly his Dad (the team's coach) was a Tiger supporter though it may be that I only talked Tigers with him. An article I just looked up said he was placed with us during the preseason so we will have a good reading on him, as might Higgo via the Knights connection.

Think Jack's dad Brett actually played 2 games for the Tigers! Definitely Richmond supporters.

Jack's goal from Punt Rd End pocket is one of three Goal of the week nominations.
Beats the other 2 easily for mine!
