Bye Bye Jack Higgins!

Going to take a while to build a tank to help him with defensive chasing. Love the early attacking signs though.

Thought he did ok. 7th most contested possessions. Sitting 2nd for goals per game. Can't see him being dropped unless for fatigue management. Not sure Stengle has done enough to replace him and not as competent givng a chop out in the middle.

Won't be dropped.

Liked how he bounced back up, slotted the goal and celebrated in exactly the same way, daring Lynden to do it again.

We have our own Stevie J folks

Even better was when Riewoldt was set upon by Dunn and one other Collingwood player. Higgins went in and flew the flag. Was out of his depth but didn't take a backward step against that imposter Dunn.

Yup, full credit to the young bloke. And full credit to how Dimma has them going. It says a lot when a young bloke like this can slot in to the side and get up to speed. Only a great system and culture allows that, IMO. This is what I have been hoping for for years and what I hoped Hardwick might be doing. Coaching with one eye on the future. Setting the side up for sustained success. Early doors but the signs are good.

Agree his body language and moves are very similar.
Has the same smarts and the love of the game.

Yeah what a tough man that Dunn is. Didn't see him try that on Nank. I am not normally for this type of umpiring as I like a bit of argy-bargy in the game, but it was just a cheap shot and deserved a goal against him.

Will be interesting to see if they back him in to keep playing until Rioli returns or relieve him .

I wouldn’t mind seeing Stengel given a shot for no other reason to see how he handles it .

On a fox footy show last night they discussed the penalty being "too big" for the late bump and if I remember they finished by saying should be a free in the middle because if it was the other way around, ie a defender being bumped it is a free from the middle.
Personally I think this is another case of the boys not understanding the problem. This situation needs to be a free at goal. Any *smile* can go and flatten another player after the play has stopped and when they are not reasonably expected to be hit. Cowards act, should have been a goal from the centre of the goal line as well. It doesn't happen very often so a goal here or there is not a penalty big enough for a cheap dog act. Maybe a free from the middle as well to the ruckman.
On a side note how soft did Castagna hit the dude, for him to be a 100kg experienced player and hit the deck like he was hit by a road train. Report him for staging just to top it off I reckon. :hihi

Waterman from WC got the rising star this week, Jack is going to have to kick 8 to get the nod

Can't believe he didn't get it last week. Had the same number of touches as Long but more tackles and 2 more goals. Made no sense.

Looking at past winners, I suspect the RS is slightly manipulated to give under performing sides hope.

There are obvious exceptions in Mitchell, Hannebury, Mills,

but it seems to go to sides down on their luck.

Im annoyed I didnt identify this trend prior to backing Jack Graham this year :(

my Theory contradicts why we won it only once through the dark years, but RFC generally bucks every trend known to footy.

I think a free in the middle is fair. To me another certain goal for that was quite harsh.

Any incident like that, the free is awarded where it happens, or where the ball is, whichever is closer to the receiving team's goal.
