Bulldogs v Tigers - Gameday Thread

Not that it would have made a difference but I really don't get Nanks and Soldo in the same side. Neither are forwards and we're effectively playing 1 man down in the forward line. Nanks played 87% game time and Soldo 71%.

Yes - don’t know how this worked in 2019, but it certainly doesn’t work now. At least one ruck has to be able to play forward and neither can.

Ryan has to come in for last three and partner one or the other. Was disappointed in both rucks last night. Neither influenced play around the ground.

Don’t watch enough games to really know , however I’d say the Bont is the best player in the game atm

Jack
Cotch
Graham
Grimes
Nank
Kmac
Picket
Etc
Retire them
.trade em.out ....whatever
They arent performing well so whats their point?
Reset and rebuild stats now.
Young cumberland coulthard bauer banks ralphsmith dow sonsie clarke should all play remainig games

Your post highlights the trouble we are in.
Young, Cumberland. Coulthard, Bauer , Banks ,Ralpsmith, Dow , Sonsie , Clarke.
All the above have a long long way to go to be regular senior players.
Some look doubtful already, Young Cumberland,Ralphsmith, Dow and Sonsie.
The recruiting department really needs to lift its game.

Day after night before. So many issues to fix onfield.

Firstly what are we - rebuilding or trying to contend? Because that dictates what we do with the list from here.

Secondly, if Melbourne can’t play two genuine rucks then we certainly can’t. Choose either Nank or Soldo and the second ruck has to be able to play forward.

Thirdly - why so many I50’s against? Is it loss of clearance, loss of clean clearance, lack of midfield accountability and transition running, rebound out of our forward half? Maybe all of the above. Needless this has to be addressed urgently. This didn’t happen last year or earlier this season.

Fourthly - AFL game style has changed, but we haven’t. Can’t kick or run, can’t play is the new norm. Lots to do with our list.

WTF was that insipid putrid effort we put up last night?
We had 18 players on the field that wouldn’t chase or tackle, didn’t support their teammates, when it was their turn to go in they left it to the other guy. There was NO Richmond man effort out there
The majority had checked out couldn’t be bothered to put in the effort required to strive for a spot in the 8. With only 3 games left must stick playing the young guys and senior players must lift

Well I guess we mostly expected some pain would come after the premiership window closed ,

It’s looking like it’s officially arrived

Is it just me but has anyone else noticed the number of times our players are more intent on the opposing player than keeping their eye on the ball? Last night a Dogs player took an easy mark with three Tiger players around him but looking elsewhere.I counted 3 occasions like this.Been happening all year as well.Have the coaches set up a reactive rather than a proactive mindset?

Plus corralling instead of tackling

I said in the first 5 mins that the players have given up on the year or the coach or something.

The pressure and commitment we saw in the first half last week was miles away from what every player was dishing up. And so it continued for the rest of the game (I think. I can't remember the last quarter as I was too drunk!)

Not a hindsight comment , however there was no way in the world we were going to win the flag this year without Lynch and we won’t play finals next year without him , call it an excuse or whatever , he is the most important player to any side in the league , hopefully he can be a 50 goal man next year and help the kids going forward .

Jack with 3 goals ( probably should have been 4 ;) ) proves what a champ he is , but he’s done , would be crazy for him and Cotch to go around again, in fact it would be sad , last 2 seasons have been tough to watch.

Grimes is obviously going on, however I see no point in playing him now , give him an extra long break before hitting pre season as he’s knowledge and leadership will be crucial going forward .

Against the grain, but I’d be playing the likes of Graham ( fringies ) for the rest of the season , definitely not against some new roles and most definitely be getting games into kids like Sonsie , Banks, Coulthard, Bauer, Cumberland etc .

Nank wouldn’t be in it , however I’d ask the big fella to head to Hawaii get some sun , get the big rig ready to go next year and let’s have a look at Ryan and Soldo or the ”RYOLDO” the games new crack forward/ ruck duo .

basically let’s take advantage of having 3 full on practice games to prepare for 2024 , Mini could guarantee himself the gig with some outside the box thinking and some extreme Faith shown in the kids .

I dont want to see any career saving decent games from the likes of Miller and Pickett

We can't retire them all at once unless we want to keep the younger players who clearly aren't going to make it. Should have been retiring them over the last couple of years to even it out. Can't see Nanks, Graham or KMac retiring. Grimes has a contract for next year.

this and only this for most of the game. Puts pressure on our defenders and surprise surprise our young and inexperienced are first to crumble (young) who is now in his first year labelled a DUD! Crikey

Boiling it down 1st quarter decided the game. Without Dusty Cotch Grimes Bont had a ball & Pickett should have been on him from the start. Cumberland plenty of upside but cannot kick. Throw down back & see how he goes.

Cumbo can kick. Just has no confidence with it atm. Pickett was smashed by Bonts. Bonts is too good to be tagged and was way too good for Taranto, Hopper, Prestia.

I agree, game was lost in the 1st. Fairly competitive after that. Unfortunately it's a 4 quarter game.
