Bulldogs v Tigers - Gameday Thread

Easily the softest performance in years. The bulldogs are one of the physically weakest sides in the AFL and we made them look hard. Embarrassing. Soft. Amazingly soft. Wow.

wrote us off early this year, you could see it.. too much drama around the club

which culminated in Dimma leaving

so not making finals, which we won't, is no real surprise

Just about everyone in the media know we weren't going to win. Vets out, 5 day break, The Dump we're not used to.

We kicked 8 goals to 10 in last 3 quarters. Glad this didn't blow to 100+
Agree great post. I still cannot get my head around the stand rule which I think 95% of football diehards want it abolished. Maybe an on line petition should be drawn up & presented to those Wokes at AFL to scrap it.

For me the club has been diluted with this finals crap never was going to happen our season was gone with the poor start and only of late we started playing for the future been forced , but dropping Banks was stupid. Will see who's going to take the rapt for this loss.

Balta outstanding.

Cumberland not up to it.
Cumberland is one of the strangest player I have ever seen, Capable of real brilliance ... and absolute clanger after clanger. But I believe he has attributes to become a quality player.
It's simple. Coaching. The first thing is to tell him to find some poise. If takes a mark, get back off the mark and have a good look at the best option. A lot of stuff-ups are due to his automatic play-on and helter-skelter decisions. Never applies the composure to actually size up the best option.

He needs coaching - direction and training. Including goal-kicking technique. How was he ever allowed to use that stupid half-sideways run-up? The dropped uncontested marks are poor but young, inexperienced players do that like Bauer, Young and Banks.

My dowsing rod is quivering which usually indicates a belting. Then again it might just mean I need to take a *smile*.
Whilst correct, your dowsing rod was not the only thing to cop a flogging tonight.

They won’t give a *smile*. The only thing they respond to is when Channel 7 or Fox want something.

Yep exactly, MUST contain Libba, Bont, Daniels and Macrae, they get plenty of ball forward for this mob and our guys must play a tighter role tonight for us to have a chance. Still think we are a chance though if the boy's get their fast moving chaos game in action, good to have Shorty and Nank back also, hopefully Cumber can get his stuff going and snag a few majors tonight as well

Go Tiges, Eat 'em Alive !
Well, that didn't happen and they killed us yet again, Libba is an amazing player, his ability to keep a ball moving from any position is huge for that team, never tackled and caught, quick hands and football smarts can get you a long way in this game.

Or it just might be that he is a seriously flawed footballer who covers his weaknesses in lower competition.

This is the kind of perspective I needed. Thanks TF.

What I came here to ask, was if that 1st quarter put the moz on Mini's chances? Can't have helped. Backline was completely lost in the 1st quarter. They just kept flooding forward and our backs were stuck trying to cover too many bodies with no real system. That has been the story for a while. It's the counter stat to the one everyone likes to parrot: Balta's intercept marking. You can only take bags of intercept marks in the D50 if the ball is coming in there in serious numbers. That means our F50 pressure, and midfield pressure is below what it needs to be. The backs are inundated, but that disguises that the problem is further up the ground.

How can they have over 100 more disposals, yet still have 20 more tackles. Effort an issue… pressure was poor. Didn’t really play like it was a do or die game… game over within 20 minutes!
