Just posted on the Deledio thread about Buckley saying he thought Deledio was getting by purely on ability at the moment. Clearly thinks he doesn't work hard enough. I think there's a growing perception in the media that Lids doesn't extend himself as much as he should or work to get out of his comfort zone. I reckon Tambling's learnt how to do it. I tend to agree about Lids.

I do agree mostly, but today wasn't an example of that.

I agree, Deledio is way too soft off the ball. Runs at 1/4 pace unless he has the ball in his hands. Not good enough.

Our effort off the ball is the reason why we're such a sh!t team, and Deledio is a prime example of how we're not good enough. Unless he wants to give 100% on AND off the ball, then he can be traded for all I care.

If any of you think 29 soft possessions and 2 goals is good enough then you must be happy with where we are as a football club. Why don't we bring Bowden back then? Whats the difference between the two?

Bowden might be lucky to win 11 contested possessions all year and Deledio won 11 today.

Cannot agree today.

Sometimes the label sticks, today teh perception on Deledio is wrong.

The same blokes in the media knocking him on one hand are talking up Judd with the other hand.

Imbeciles.

Deledio worked very hard today, both ways too.

Very good point Freezer. No point having two threads discussing the same thing.

And Jade Rawlings agrees. Said he was very happy with Lids in his pre game interview.

I haven't seen today's game yet, so I can't comment. Just thought Buckley's perception was interesting.

Lets mark this day.

whats the bet Judd gets 2 brownlow votes ( 3 if Fev doesn't get them)

he will probably get more votes than Cousins today - but hey his side won.

Wow, 11 possession contested possessions with his disposal? That's pretty close to elite. Good call Plough.

People will pick until we win games.... simple as that! when we do turn it around... these boys will be heros!
no people should pick if players perform poorly, but sometimes you have to pull your head in and admit whem players have good games.

sure there are areas of deledios game that needs improving as long as he recognises this and does something about it.

Football forums are strange things,

Apparently it is open slather for fellow posters to throw vitriol, and question your personal judgement, intelligence and football knowledge - ESPECIALLY when you don't align with their thinking.

Went for dinner tonight and came home to watch the taped game again (even though I watched it live) - to then turn on Dyer Tribe and see that opinions are definetly polarised.

Last I looked that was everyone's right.

I know what I saw today.

I know what I've seen week after week (actually - year after year).

We'll obviously revisit this thread further as his career unfolds.

I have no hesitation in apologising if I'm found to be wrong.

Rest assured I'll let you know if I think I'm right.

As for the various peasants who like to assert that only they can determine who/what should be defined as a genuine supporter ................. get lost.

Supporting/membership does not entail blind obedience.

Not a single player in the team (except Richo) has earnt that.

No blind obedience here. Only an opinion that if one refuses to buy a membership simply because one of our players is given a contract perceived by that person as wrong then that person is particularly thin skinned (to put it in a civil way).

Looking forward to Astute's continued astute defence of Lids.

Fair enough.

If Deledio gets to echo the words of Mark Williams - then I'll be the first to eat humble pie.

In the interim, I'll use my discretionary spending for exactly that.

20+ years of handing over hard earned money gives me that right.

Odd that Deledio's never been a media pin-up boy in the way that, say, Ottens was. Voss and Hird have also criticised him in the past.

Jack Riewoldt did say after the game that the other players had put the acid on Deledio to lift his defensive efforts, and that he answered the call today.
