Can't see him getting back I doubt they'd risk him in any finals.
loved him as a player not so much as a person should be thankful I suppose, his healthy ego or lack of it at the club. went along way towards us winning 2017

A few negative comments about lids and his ego on this thread. Is any of this substantiated or an outsider’s perception?

Can someone with a good memory for these things please remind me of what we got for the Deledio deal?
At the time we received a future first round pick (tied to Geelong’s ladder position) and a future third rounder from GWS .
Which players did we then turn these into?
We swapped the Geelong pick to Brisbane for 20 and 25: CJ and Balta. The 3rd-rounder helped pay for Naish, and with the change we also got Miller. Deal of a lifetime. The Reverse Pitura.
Tambling we turned into Dean MacDonald, Elton and McIntosh. Great result to land a premiership player, considering the ample evidence provided by The Witness.
We got nothing for Meyer, Polo or Patto.

Yes heard it in the walls of punt road February 2017. quote was "you may hear things in here we really wouldn't want repeated but #3 wasn't a very nice person and the club is already seeing an improvement in the playing group.

I would be far more confident in our current recruiters to nail at least four of five top 20 picks (including picks 1 and 4 FFS).

Fortunately the club is in a much better place. Credit must go to the likes of Lids, Riewoldt, etc, for making the most out of themselves.

It was a horrid draft, Hawthorn killed it, but the rest was rubbish.

A positive to come out of our shambles recruiting back then, especially the 2004 draft is we would not have got Dusty, Cotch, Jack, etc...later on

Going to the footy back then, the only shining lights were Richo and Lids.
Will always be remembered as a Tiger.

He may have been a *smile* bloke but I loved him as a player. Never accepted mediocre performances and never stopped trying.

Without Lids leaving, I don’t think we would be as strong both in terms of the shift in mindset of our playing group as well as players his move allowed us to draft.

Thank Lids and best of luck going forward - away from our boys though

Well when we took him at #1 we hoped he'd be the kid who would help us win a flag before his playing career was over.

Well he did just that by heading to Gee Whizz and helping us land Caddy, Nank and Dion who all proceeded to play a major part in our Premiership the following season.

Thank You Brett.

Ahhh Patto....... correct me if I'm wrong but didn't he famously coin the phrase, post draft day that he was one of. .....

The Fab Five.....?

Went on to be Famous For Four Fifths of *smile* All

Patto had a stint at the Hawks as well.
Was incredibly selected by saints despite his exposed form and hawks. Amazing.

Tried hard but was an in betweener that never had a chance.
