Brett Deledio (merged)

A wonderful player a coach could plug in anywhere, but for me the best half back flanker since McLeod. If he and Enright had each gone to the other club, Lids would be a six-time AA triple premiership Geelong immortal, and Enright would be just another Tiger only Richmond fans fully appreciated.

Been some brutal remarks of Deledio's personality by some since he left the Tigers but for me he will always be an absolute Tiger great during a very tough period for the Tigers. Well done Deledio. Good luck for whatever you achieve in the next chapter of your life.

I'd say if they called for entries for the unluckiest footballer ever to play,

Lids would get nominated.

To slog and star for 243 games amidst a 37 year drought,

then miss the clubs zenith,

while finding yourself dancing a polka in a stupid orange jumper in front of a few rugby league people and canned cheering,

is pretty *smile* stiff

a superb, classical player.

And spending Grand Final Day at Taronga Park Zoo because you couldn't deal with events unfolding at the G!
Gotta feel for him.

Listening to snippets of Lids' presser and he's finding it hard to say as much about GWS as he is about us.

Whatever happened in the past is in the past. He's a Tiger champion.

Said it before and I'll say it again, I can see Lids being the RFC AFLW coach in the near future.

Lids was a grouse athlete and I’m grateful to have been able to enjoy his on-field talents.

He was genetically gifted, and provided inspiration to people who find meaning in looking up to people who were born talented.

If sport is a hunter gatherer simulation, then Lids‘ role was the specialised spearman who could kill a pig in a thunderstorm.

We’ll never know how much he could’ve grown as a leader and a person in 2017. I mean, not everyone expected Jack to mature into such a legendary, great great leader.

At the end of the day, GWS is a place where the genetically superior band together and scratch their heads as teams like Richmond go past them by unlocking more from human potential.

It is what it is.

I'm sorry that Lids missed a premiership with us, although I'm glad he didn't get one with GWS.

Really appreciate all the excitement and happiness he brought to the Tigers through the Wallace years and beyond. The amount of times I yelled "Yes, Lids" simply because there wasn't enough class across the field for the Tigers duing that time made it enjoyable to go to the football. Good luck in retirement fella.

Well done Lids. We all loved you. Sad you couldn't be part of our 2017 flag.

Now, get out of that Sydney *smile* hole and get back to your real club to teach the kids.

Lids goes down as one of our best players this decade. Well done to him on a fabulous career.

Interesting to see what he does post footy. I'm not sure he sticks out as a coach but who knows

240 odd games a great achievement in anyones language. And yes together with Richo was the only thing to cheers about in some of those dark times.

But the sad facts are:

1. he was never mentally strong enough to consistently play as a midfielder, break tags and run both ways. His best footy was as an unaccountable half back flanker.
2. he was toxic for club/playing group harmony and culture.
3. he wanted out.

On the first 2 points, these could have been overcome or avoided if there had been better leadership in place as he worked his way through the system. But there was a compelte absence of success, sufficient resources and those with the knowledge of what success looked like and required in the modern footy eras in those dark times. Makes me appreciate how far we have come.

Gotta feel for him.

Apparently he got a little triggered at the chimp enclosure, and his wife quickly shepherded him to the pangolins
