Poor lids, another injury. What a shitty end to a pretty good career.

Sliding doors - I wonder whether Brett would still be playing if he never left Richmond? I am not sure how long his contract was when he left, so maybe it is moot, but if he was still around I am sure it would have negatively impacted us missing one of our marquee players. We obviously dodged a bullet.

Whilst we lost nothing in Lids as his body was shot.

Both those two have a lot to prove to be AFL players as yet.

Not deal of the century until they do.

Pretty sure we also got Caddy as well.

Deal definitely won.

More interested in the hypothetical -
what if he stayed?
Would he still be on our list?
Premiership aside, would we achieved the same "together" culture with him around?

Don't mind a good hypothetical but in this case I'd prefer to stick with the actual - and that involves a certain flag

would it be stupid to suggest we could pick him up on a bargain basement salary next year for depth? I can't see GWS keeping him and he's still only 31.

Yes it would.

I’d love to do it, but that’d be the heart talking.

Would have given it more thought had he been playing elite football whilst fit, but currently when he gets on the park he's a shadow of the player he was with us. No pace, low possession counts and not a goal kicker. What else is there?

he left us for specific reasons ....and that ok

but he found himself in the wasteland of AFL and being managed by the poorest medical rehab team around him ...........Hello Tom Scully

they will never get him back ......................

he is still a tiger in my eyes!

Lids won’t be remembered as a giant he will be remembered as a tiger and so he should. Around 240 games, life member and multiple JD medallist.

Of course he is a Tiger and I love to see him do well when he isn’t playing against us!

Alan Martello was similar. Played his 200th as a 25yo and finished on 255.

He played in premierships at Hawthorn and in a losing GF for us.
Then had a premonition about 37 barren years ahead and decided to go fishing instead.

I'll forever remember him as a Giant who missed out on a Tiger flag and couldn't stomach the thought and instead went to the zoo.

So he's a Giant.
