i think the pain of losing the prelim and having a shocker himself put the writing on the wall for Lids as far as his reactions to the GF. he was already bummed out and knew what the Tiges had transformed into. without him. its a tough one to suck up.

There's a lot of hyperbole in this, Scoop. Sheeesh, players have been changing clubs for all sorts of deals mostly involving money, forever. Go back and look into guys like Percy Bentley, Dan Minogue and dozens of others (I'd say you already know though). Not slavery; most often freedom of choice.

Lids chose to go; he must have wanted out after 2016, was probably unhappy with the club's failures, the game-plan, Dimma and whatever else. He may have been a negative influence too. I'm sure this club, which has always valued loyalty under this admin (look at some of the guys we have kept too long like Elton, or honoured their contracts, like Yarran). If Lids wanted to stay loyal, club would definitely have kept him.

So this trade was brilliant on our part. After disasters like Yarran, we deserved it. Sour grapes for Lids but it was all his choice. Loved him as a player, but you can compare him to Richo, who stayed fully loyal despite the lack of much finals success over his career.
 
Big expectations but I thought he could be a cross between a James Hird and a Chris Judd when he was 1st drafted. Yes, we were a basket case of a club, but for all his physical attributes, I have never seen him tear a game apart on his own. Did us a favour leaving when he did. And he left of his own free will. No disrespect to him, but where was the sympathy for us long suffering supporters putting up with the sarcasm levelled at us for years. F them all. We're Kings now, the rest can please themselves!!

For one, GWS have been gifted so much in terms of draft picks they can afford to pay overs in pursuit of some experienced heads for their flag tilt.

Gibbs to the Crows is understandable they are in their window and he will give them a lift through the middle and is still playing at peak level.
 
The Tigers will be in the mix this year for sure..if we don't lift the Cup then I'd like to see Lids part of a Giants Premiership team as long as it's not the Tigers they beat..& hopefully injury doesn't prevent him from playing in finals .

according to Leon C there is no tear, just soreness; so precautionary rest more than anything ... time will tell.

cant string more than 3-4 games together without breaking down ............its kind of sad for an x tiger!
 
Usually with old legs when this happens something else like a calf or Achilles will ping soon after.
His legs are ruined.
