Serious question... does anyone think that our climb up the ladder has had anything to do with lids leaving? Rumour has it that he created a toxic environment last season.

His comment near the end was interesting... "not here to scratch around with turkeys".

Anyone see the curtain raiser? How did Lids go?

25 touches/8 marks/0.2 and on track to be picked in the seniors this week.

Nope.

I think it might have but maybe not for that reason. I think we relied on him too much.

Next serious question please.

There is something to this IMO. The place has opened up and EVERYONE is talking about how close the group is now. I've no doubt he gave his all and considered himself a total team footballer. But workplaces are strange, one strong personality out of the mix and everything changes.

I also believe that there is something in this

Wouldn't be Lids alone. But Lids and Plasma leaving, severe attitude readjustment in Lennon. That's probably enough to get the team ethos realigned to what we see now.

Just imagine for a minute that for the rest of 2017 Richmond was about to make room for a ripped Brett Deledio. A lot of people would think that a bit of an improvement. To the team. To its prospects. Talent level.

Don't know about it being the reason for our climb up the ladder, BUT, many of the younger players were happy he left as they thought he was a "Flog".

True but on the other hand we have struggled early in the season when he has been out injured and I felt that unsettled the team over the last two years - we may have not got of to our flyer - all hypotheticals

And Chaplin. Only Grigg left in the more to life than football gang.

Ever since the days when Richo was our only real forward target I reckon we've had a real "Kick it to X" culture, but over the past decade it has permeated the midfield and the rest of the ground. We are more likely to handball to a high profile player when he is flat footed than a first season player on the run with a paddock. It's no wonder so many of our young players loose their flare and confidence.

I remember Dan Jackson use to get overlooked running into space so much as a youngster. Ironically, he was a big offender later in his career.

This year this culture doesn't seem so bad. Plenty of flare on display this season. Wouldn't be surprised if Lids leaving, as top of the midfield pecking order, is a factor.

The inclusion all-at-once of Rioli/Butler/Castagna has helped I reckon. Their speed and willingness to support each other and thus look for each other (and with their speed and tenaciousness they are the next option) has meant they didn't need to rely as much on established seniors to get them the ball.

It certainly hasn't hurt. Great player but always struck me as a bit of a sook on the field.

Bloody surprised Rimau hasn't been on here lately. He's been calling it on Lids n Dusty n the clique for years. Everybody seems to be lovin Dusty, but no-one's really missing Lids.
