It's quite possible your theory is on the money, ToO. But his complete lack of dash over 100 minutes... that is to say no instances where explosive pace is evident, leads me to conclude that it's a minor injury.

Hate to say it but the explosive pace is still there .

I've watched every game bar the hawthorn game because the little bloke is teething and more than several times I have seen lids show a bit of toe to the opp's mid's

Sorry to say but I think you are looking for something that isn't there

sensational act of courage displayed in that last quarter by Brett :clap

That was a spine tingling effort from Brett Deledio.

Angels fear to tread in those spaces.

Huge courage on display. Cannot and should not ever doubt his courage again.

Is coming of age, and is almost ready to take the compeition by storm

Have thought for some time that logically he should be our next Captain, with Foley the only other serious contender. I think he must now be beginning to have a sense that he has the leadership needed to pick up Johnsons jumper in 09.

I reckon he is still carrying something....isnt exploding with pace as much as we have seen.

Kicking is definitely not what it was.

But I don't care, that was fantastic to do what he did in the 4th, and then not only that to get back up and play a key role in the rest of the game. It's the kind of thing that makes you do something stupid like hand the captaincy to a 22 year old....

It was a great show of courage from Lids last night. I would expect Terry will show the vision to those who don't do the same!!

Another thing i have noticed from lids is he is really backing himself when tackled and holds on to the ball as long as he can to find the right option which is one of the things Chris Judd does really well. Good to see Lids doesn't just handball to nobody when tackled like many of his team mates

What a great peice of footage to put on the highlight real!!! I think thats been on of the highlights of the year for us so far.

A class act, will be in Mike Sheehans top 50 every year from now on ;D

I think people are blowing the speed issue out of proportion
If he has lost pace this year, it's marginal, it's quite possible that he's playing more composed football this year and it's just blazing away whenever he can. In the event that he is a little slower, then I'd say it's because he's had a bulking year this preseason. Quite a few posters last year were saying that Whitey was looking slow, when Rimau Jnr came on and told everyone that he'd had a preseason focussing on strength which had slowed him down a little, but it would return when he did the following preseason to get his mobility back. With Lids looking to play forward this year and benching the most at the club, I'd suggest that another preseason focussing on speed and mobility and we'll have an absolute monster on our hands.

if you ask me his brave act in the last quarter will be the defining moment for him and for the club.

i might be wrong but i think Lids had a breakthrough with a 30plus possession game add also that he has shown he has gonads as well (which i think was his only big question mark).

mark my words his game the other night was a breakthrough for him.

The club and himself knows now where the new level is set.

prepare yourselves ladies and gentlemen.

Had visions of the Hyde/Maguire fractured skull collision running through mind when Lids and Baker were going for that mark, thank God it was a different outcome.

It was almost as good to see him come back on and get important touches as it was the courage of the actual marking attempt itself.

Starting to think the 'bulking up' theory might have some weight, as mentioned earlier Whitey went through the same thing last year (did have ankle trouble to though IIRC) and from memory Nth.Melbourne prior to the '06 season were boasting how much mass they had put on across the board then conceded later in the year it made them slower than a wet weak - following year though they made a Prelim.

He does have a minor injury, not sure what it is, Sheedy was told not to pick him for the Vics cause he needed the rest same with Johnson.
