I couldn't believe watching the replay that Healy said 'Deledio is getting a lot of the ball but isn't really doing much' or words to that effect.

Thank god the brains trust have been playing him on the ball where he belongs.

It's a stigma of playing for Richmond. The media love to pull us down and almost can't comprehend the thought of Deledio becoming a star which of course he is well on the way to becoming.
It's no coincidence our better performances this year have come along in line with Lid's dramatic improvement.

I remember someone on here posted that he was carrying a bad injury, i don't think so :)

Wallace played Deledio well this week, he actually didn't spend a huge amount of time on the ground. He was interchanged with Brown if I recall and was sometimes put in the backline, then in the foward line.
He seemed to find it whever he was which is always a good sign, and too lay 5 tackles has got to boost his confidence to chase and tackle.

The Saints were horrible against us this week, if we were any good we would have thrashed them. Only player you have to look out for is Hayes, Riewoldt is playing damaged, he was noticably in pain after any sort of clash.
Dal Santo is rubbish right now, wonder when his contract is up ;)

Good luck this week.

I think Wallace used Deledio as a real weapon last night.

That is the way he should be used. Rotated through half back, half forward and the midfield. These three spots are essentialy one and the same in modern day football. But it makes it harder for a tagger to stick.

The biggest turnaround in Deledio has been the running when we don't have the prune. His chasing and tackling have been fantastic. He sticks tackles too. Doesn't get brushed off any more.

Really big month for Deledio and Tambling. If they continue in this form through the next month then it will be 8 weeks of good football in a row. That would be a amazing effort.

I only have one criticism of Deledio and that is he dosent kick it enough.

In his defence yesterdays game was planned around handball and finding a way to beat Hawthorn through the middle without bombing indiscriminatley, coupled with the fact we did not have a CHF to kick to.

Im wrapped Deledio is gettin more of the ball, laying more tackles and generally has come of age but he has such damaging kicking ability. I would love to see him have 15-20 kicks instead of 10 kicks and 18 handballs like yesterday.

Yep, I agree TF

When you lack the explosive speed to get clear and kick it, a handball is the go. Deledio can't get out of 2nd gear at the moment due to the mystery injury which has made it possible for the likes of D.Jackson and R.Crowley to completely burn him for speed. The fact that he is playing so well without the full operation of the afterburners is extremely encouraging.

His ball use is among the elite in the AFL. 30 disposals yesterday. 0 critical errors.

As far I as know he is not injured

Do you know something we dont??

Just a logical conclusion to draw, TF06. Based on his apparent lack of pace.

There's in entire thread on it.

In every game this year Deledio has had more handballs than kicks. I'm not saying the bloke has OP. But I don't think he is 100% right. Players can lineup for weeks on end with little corkies (particularly on a thigh) that are aggravated every match day and every training session. They don't sideline you, but they do prevent maximum output. And a severely corked thigh really effects maximum acceleration, but doesn't hinder your kicking as much as a groin injury.

Given Deledio's performance on Sunday evening, the idea of him being below 100% is a scary proposition for opposition clubs.

Admiral loyalty sticking up for jd ;D

I would suggest he isn't injured at all. He isn't the fastest player in the AFL.

Healy and his mate Deadshit Dwayne Russell are perpetual RFC haters and bashers. They have zero clue; just because you play AFL doesn't mean you are a great commentator. These two are primo examples, as is Michael Voss.

Deledio is all class. Just watch him go when we get some more class around him; hopefully we are seeing the early signs of that now.

Probably right jim beam.
What he may have lost in speed he's added in strength and experience.
Lids may be losing his Astroboy tag but he's well on the way to becoming great footballer.

I disagree with all that, you don't lose pace at Deledio's age.

Since round 1 he has looked hampered be something small. But I haven't seen him out in the open very often. Doing more inside work. Eother way he is in career best form.

I can't stand Healy and Frawley. For 2 guys that have played and been involved with football for over 2 decades they really have NFI.

I remember putting up with Walls and Frawley commentating for Foxtel while Geelong set a record against us last year. The umpires of course worked for Gieschen.

All our ex-coahes were in on that Barbecue

Even if you bulk up considerably from your first couple of seasons where you forged the rep?
It's very possible he's lost some pace.
He's now bench pressing the most at the club. No doubt he's a bigger, stronger player than when he arrived but that won't necessarily equate to him remaining the fastest. Not that it matters either when he's playing as well as he is.

It's round 6, surely they are not playing him too seriously injured and risk one of our future guns.
Pure speculation that he's carrying any injury unless you know something we don't.

I think he's carrying a niggle and my reason is that he lays off when he has a mark at 50. Would make the trip easy if not injured.

Dobbed one on the weekend, Robert. But that's the first in a while. I don't think it's monster issue but good to check over the season.

Anyways the lad is doing fine form wise. Inside game is really coming on now. If only we had a dozen of him.

Spot on, Scoop.

Strewth, you guys must look under a lot of rocks to try and find something to be concerned about. Lids has never been better....enjoy it!

Agree Jack - becoming a better player all the time!
