Great hands when in a marking contest but misses alot of handball receives, looks up/around just before the ball gets to him. Watch the replay of todays game and see how many he missed, especially early, tightens this up will be a gun.

He'll tighten up. It's confidence. Absolutel pearler of a game today.

Agree. Spends it before he's got it in traffic. Pretty confident this will improve and we have a gun.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Becoming a very reliable player. Strong hands and kicks like a mule

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

Shirked the issue a few times early in the season but seems to have rebar up his clacker the last few rounds.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

you do realise that he is vastly becoming a very serious gun don't you??
I M JUST LOVING HOW he is coming along...so awesome and important to see him be a great part of our midfield

Yep serious Ellis love here

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

a couple of costly fumbles and could have gone in harder at times, but tracking well for a second year player. generally his hands are clean, just needs to toughen up around the contest and not take his eyes off it. this will come with a couple more pre-seasons. has good run, spread, link up and delivery.

He will be our Heath Shaw.

aim high mozza. Think Luke Hodge

People are scrambling to get him on their dreamteam lists like he was a full brother to Black Caviar.

Should invent a new syndrome for this kid, the opposite of 2nd year blues ...... Brandon has the 2nd year TIGERS

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

I'm a fan but he needs to get rid of the bobbly head (when he runs). Don't like it in jockeys or footballers.

Francis Bourke was an old head wobbler too.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

It is always nice to have a clean disposer off the HB line. In Houli and Ellis we currently have two.
If he keeps this up it will be interesting to see how he goes once opposing coaches start putting in an effort to restrict him.

But he seems to have passed the 1st stage of being an AFL footballer.... by showing he can be a good contributor when no one really gives a crap about him.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

I keep saying this, this kid has wonderful marking ability, particularly one on one, does not get beaten. Great attitude. One of my favourite young players on our list.
Well done Mr Ellis.

Yep for his size is a great mark. Rivals Deledio and Tuck at the club for the best contested mark under KPP size.

Think your selling him short Juffa. He already tries to get the ball forward of half back. The next step is getting kicks forward of centre. The most important runners carry the ball or find space at the back of the centre square and carry it over the line to set up attacks. That's Brando's next step. No wide ball, more attacking kicks over the middle. But the most pleasing thing is that he is improving rapidly.

It's the ultimate way to beat zoning isn't it. He regularly takes those one on one contested marks up towards the wing and they often save us form a fast rebound.

It has been a hallmark for teams like Geelong and Collingwood in their premiership years. You can't get every possession uncontested. If he is that strong then he will be targeted more as time goes by.

Re: Welcome Brandon Ellis

agree with the above,,, excellent over head mark... just when you think the ball is about to sail over his head, his final stretch, timing, soft hands are perfect. Running mid down the track who can go up forward, a bit like dusty and take a few marks.
