Brandon Ellis

A recent premiership player is running around in the seconds due to rocking up to a TV gig on a Sunday morning a bit worse for wear.

His form hadn’t been great this year, but most casual observers were surprised by the axing, and to be fair, most insiders were surprised by the player’s behaviour as it’s out of character for a solid citizen and somewhat of a role model to his teammates.

The unofficial ban has been served and all is forgiven, but he can’t find his way back into a side that’s in pretty good form at the moment.

It seems lessons have been learned at all levels and clubs, no matter how good they may be going, will nip things in the bud pretty quickly should it look like players are getting ahead of themselves.

Thought-provoking post, gdog. Is his dad ok?

Decisions like this keep players focussed and grounded. Everyone has the message reinforced in no uncertain terms. You are in the team ONLY because you continue to earn the right to be there.

Not sure that is correct

If a team can afford a player of BEllis quality in the vfl ( and we have a few) then all I can say is that we are tracking well.

I guess that’s why we are top in afl and vfl atm

He will get his chance again and it’s up to him whether he takes it or not. These guys that there is a tilt at another flag on offer and they are hungry. Good times

I'd heard the same thing the week he was dropped

I can't work out the logistics of that rumour though?

He played V Melbourne on Anzac eve the Tuesday night, and it was announced that he was dropped from the team to play Collingwood two days later.

How did he squeeze a Saturday night/Sunday morning indiscretion into the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday Morning before he was dropped on Friday afternoon?

Why are you trying to include reason and analysis and logic to this?

According to stats B Ellis had 11 kicks and 8 of them were inefficient last week. That's pretty poor for an AFL class player at VFL level. He did have 8 effective handballs out of 9 just to temper it but his kicking is a worry.

Uninspiring in the VFL match IMO. Can see why he is there and not in the 1s.

I think he will be back in our team come finals time. He is still best 22 when in form. I think we need to get his confidence back. His gut running should be a feature of his game at VFL level.

Who does he replace when we r at full strength? Lloyd or Short?

I think he would replace Lloyd in the team. Short is a ripper and can turn defence into attack with his skills. Metres gained shows what he can do.

I think our premiership team minus Grigg is our best team. Ellis to play wing, while Short plays.
