Brandon Ellis

Started really well, thought this might be his game but by second half it was easier to find Wally than Ellis.

at one point completely backed out of a contest with an oncoming Crow and let him run on. weird.

For the outside players to get ball, the inside players have to find it first. Brandon suffered because we got spanked at the contest inside.

In a flat spot at the minute. Last night was the first time in 38 matches he hasn't had 20 touches or more.

We've screamed for a player like this for years. This is the company he is being talked about.

Will be a elite player for a long time.

What does he do with the ball when he gets it?

Massively overrated.

Will continue to rack them up but his kicking is a concern. Now barely hits a target.

Not convinced he will be a factor as a finals player, as he is effectively an outside player who relies on others to get the ball out of congestion for him to thrive. In a finals like pressure, he wont have that space he crazes.

Hope he can add some strings to his bow and improve on his contested possesions.

Currently has the playing style of last years Shaun Grigg. Plenty of possessions but ineffective disposal and indecision. Appears to be a style trained into him this season mores the pity.

It's important to compare apples with apples.
B Ellis is not employed to win ruck contests nor to take contested marks in the goal square and win the Coleman.
He is primarily an "outside" player with his own special skill set.
His forte is to be there to collect the ball being fed from inside the packs - and then get free and deliver it forward.
He is also able to run to create the space to become a target for balls delivered by defenders and midfielders.
He must also "run the other way" when needed.
And he must put his body on the line when required in a marking contest or to chase and make tackles.
Of course he's expected to show skills when disposing of the ball i.e. hit targets and avoid turning it over.
Recent criticism here is OTT.
I'm with you though and am bloody glad we've got him because overall he's been doing a great job for us and will continue.

Played well again today. I thought his disposal was a more damaging compared to other weeks. He is still one of our most consistent players.

Has had good stats most of the season but stat figures can be skewed to indicate a better game than actually played. Accumulating stats rather than effective stats can be two different things. Today Brandon accumulated effective stats and looked all the better for it. When he goes like he did today he shows his class

Really good game yesterday. Took a couple of telling contested marks and kicked a goal to cap another great "running man" game.

He's a fair grab. Takes some courageous overhead marks.
Played very well yesterday, just needs goal kicking practice because the yips are continuing.
He did snag one yesterday and I think he got one last week, so he's getting better, but he could impact the scoreboard multiple times a week really.

That play where he kicked that goal was inspiring. I was up out of my chair. Even though we were already so far in front
