Maric is not only a better footballer but vastly more important to the structure

Grimes and bachelor are harder to replace than the dime a dozen grigg. Who the defensive half of the sport is not his go

Fair enough.

I say grigg is not in our bet 15 cause I thinks it's clearly false. Lennon is vastly superior

If everything hard wick did was golden what's the point of Richmond discussion forum?

On exposed form Grigg is vastly superior to Lennon. Lennon might be better in the long run, but he is not currently better then Grigg.

Do you consider five min playing along side ? Technically. But in reality it's not much playing

5 m / 2 hour game isn't much is it
B Ellis - hasn't been sub once this year, not sure how Grigg has 'stolen' match time off him.
McIntosh - first year of footy at AFL level, has played every game this season so it wouldn't surprise that he is tiring late in the season and so needs a bit of a breather by being played as the sub.
Lambert - may have been sub once (not even sure if that is the case, but if so wouldn't surprise as it is his first year at AFL level and so is still adjusting), other than that has been playing full games.
Lennon - obviously not fit enough yet, in his second season coming off a limited pre season where he underwent hip surgery. Would have thought it smart by the match committee to manage his game time leading into a finals series.

Lookout, its McBean vs Vickery all over again.

But agree - different roles and for now Grigg is the mainstay and Lennon the cameo.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

When Grigg is our current leading tackler with 87 - I don't know whether that highlights how bad we are at tackling or that he's taken his game to another level :spin

Yep for good reason. He's been good no doubt, even the most pessimistic of us should acknowledge that.
Very good :hihi

Says more about Richmond

Playing Lennon in the twos. As the sub. Subbing him off

While Morris. Grigg. Newman. Types are untouchable.

Would not surprise me if he doesn't want to resign

Lennon has been in the team while Morris has been playing in the reserves because he was dropped. Newman is retiring at the end of the year so won't be a factor from next year, and currently is contributing. And like others have stated, Grigg, is having a good year and is valuable to the team, and deserves his spot in the 22.

And again, since his return Lennon has been subbed off once at three quarter time, and been the starting sub once, where sure he was left on the bench until half way through the last quarter, but in a game where the plan seemed to be to sub Edwards off in his retrun from injury, while also trying to maximise his game time to have him in good condition for finals.

This seems pretty reasonable for a guy who has had question marks over his endurance. He also plays in a position/role that Hardwick and the coaches tend to prefer to use as the sub, the medium forward/half forward, as we have seen Lloyd as the starting sub multiple times during Lennons return, as well as Gordon.

Agreed. He's a perfectly good apple, while Lennon is a slightly under ripe orange.

And might have needed a rest as he's been up for a number of weeks at a level he hasn't experienced before
We need him keen and fresh for finals

Ben Lennon is not in our top of 15 now but he will be

If the recruiting staff have done their job properly we should have 20 or so in our top 15.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

i agree he's being managed, McIntosh as well, keeping them fresh for later in the year. esp McIntosh as he barely played in his 1st 2 years (inj) & this year is basically a mature age 1st year player for us

Grigg will finish top 6 in the B&F.

Raines came 2nd

Chaplin came top 3 for port often

Priddus might win his 2nd brownlow

Better at marking.

Better at kicking

Seems to defend better too

What aspect of the sport. Would you say grigg is better at?

Pretty overrated IMO

The era of kicking backwards

Lennon kicking is majestic

Get your head out of 2014 man. The real Shaun Grigg is here to stay.

Geez, Grigg has been one of our best all year, gets the ball more than Lennon, tackles more than Lennon, plays a different role than Lennon (hence why I'm not even sure why this comparison is even relevant).

Grigg has really grown this year and when kicking for goal I'm confident when he is the man kicking for goal (unless he has to kick a banana like against Collingwood last week!!).

He's an important player in our midfield and is definately currently in our best 15.

Lennon will get there but not yet and is playing a different role anyway. Lennon could not play the role that Grigg does. I'm very surprised that you seem to think Lennon is better defensively than Grigg, can't be watching either of them much.
