Id rather get games into Corey ellis and Ben lennon.
Stevie J is a big yes for me reasons
Massive upgrade on Newman
Massive upgrade on Gordon
Massive upgrade on Lloyd
I think his footy experience in big games is a big reason to have him in the club
Footy smarts could really help Lennon understand the position
He could give Lids Lennon Titch Dusty a rest through out the year .
Squads win flags not 22 players
Play him 14 15 games and give him a contract to coach later on
Has played more than 18 games a year since 2006
Cost to the club late draft pick no brainer in my opinion
Our chance is this year or next year to win it

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

All that would be great, but I don't think l he gives a rats arse about footy anymore, based on last night.
It would just be a money thing, if he came to us.

Wouldn't be in our best 22 next year. Massive pass. Should suit the bombers who are building nicely for tilt at the 09 flag with Goddard, Cooney, Gwilt, Chapman.

Just finished watching a replay of hawks game . Lennon was good because he was brave , willing to put himself in the contest , and his ability to win contests in the air or bring the ball to ground will prove invaluabe going forward . Also is a beautiful user by foot .

Yep, gun. Lids-like, without pace.

Light years ahead of grigg

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

Not sure why this has turned into a Lennon vs Johnson debate. If Lennon is good enough he'll be closer to Deledio in that he's guaranteed a game.

Don't want him being our 22nd best player next year, I expect him to push top 12, or top 15 at worst.

Why is everyone expecting him to stagnate? He's going to leapfrog half our team next year IMO.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

I'll be more content when we get the young man's signature on a contract extension

I am with you on this

On Stevie J - no as a player - if Lloyd plays 20 games next year he could possibly kick 30 goals which is not out of the question

Stevie J as a coach - maybe but would he be a good mentor for Lennon, Lloyd, Cellis and Mendue etc ?

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

If we pick up SJ then Lennon does not have a position in the side and would probably walk into the draft at seasons end as an uncontracted player.

Sydney as a club has a mercenary culture and they're fine with that.

We have a more loyal culture with our players and importing strangers who are on the tail end of their careers to the detriment of our own home grown puts at risk this loyal culture.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

No way Stevie J takes Lennon's spot but he's a big upgrade on Newman who is still in the side with Lennon in it .
The question is the expected improvement in Lennon C Ellis enough to win us a flag next year history says no .
I'm sure Stevie J can help win us those few games that we drop each year when we have a few injuries .Our record without Lids shows this .
I'm not saying he's best 22 but he's got to be better than Gordon Arnot McDonough Thomas Pettard

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

Out: grigg as part of the trelor package.

Give games to the kids; Lennon, Corey Ellis etc.

In: Sj or bartel, min wage / rookie list / Vfl player

So where does Lennon fit in if not in Newman's spot?

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

Yeah what 7 marks. Has had 3 shots?

Playing in front and has adjusted well in these conditions.

What about that attempt at a hanger on the wing. ? Hit his chest and popped out.

If we bring in Yarran surely we are bringing him in to play forward. He would therefore likely take Newmans spot, so yes Stevie J would be taking game time from Lennon, Lloyd or Corey Ellis which is not something that i think is best for us next year or for the long term.

Stevie J even if cheap and without any real draft impacts is not worth it. He would not want to come to Richmond unless he knows he will play, better to just stay as a 1 club legend than come and sit in our reserves as a 23-30 player in our squad.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

Need to sign him up asap.

Bog for me in the first half.

Assuming the first Ellis was Brandon, you can also add Corey to that list.

Really pleased with our first rounders of late.
