Ben Lennon

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

looked slow and kicking not as good as advertised , hoping he is still rusty after op

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

I didn't see the glimpses last year, or in the u18s for that matter.

Does look slow of foot and slow of mind. Kicking was awful but tough conditions to hit targets when your strength is longer kicking

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

Shaping up as our next Tambling.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

He's got time but like others I don't see it with him, looks a bit scared to me.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

Leysy's held this comment in his back pocket for a while now (well since we overlooked Zak Jones on draft day for him).

Won't make it. Toooooo Slooooowwww across the ground & ball to foot for the role he'll need to play.

Hope to god leysy's wrong but expect this to be a slow death.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

Nowhere jumps out to me as a natural best 22 spot for mine, haven't seen enough too comment on his contested ball winning ability, maybe with a tank he could play as an attacking wing ? We seem to be using as a kicking weapon from behind the ball

I'm not in your camp, but I can see where you are comming from. Having watched about 4 full games on him I've yet to see the stand out AFL flashes. He's a clever and skilful player who often looks classy, but I don't know his AFL position.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

I reckon he was ok.

Good reader of the play and will be a good distributor out of the back line.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

If he can't establish himself as best 22 early this season it's a worry for sure.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

Give him time....you have to have some busts it's the nature of the game.

Bah Humbug! The kids starting his second season FFS. Got a handful of games mainly as the sub last year n will do similar this year. Just another growth n development year for him this year n then start to look for senior consolidation from next year onwards.

Disagree on both counts, way too early a call.

Zak Jones imo will be a pretty good foot soldier, Vlastuin type but not as good. We have plenty of those types but Lennon is a different player, forward who pinch hits in the middle can play on the ground and in the air, will provide versatility. He is good over head, very nice kick.

He is still a big gangly, still a kid. These types take some time whilst they get the body for AFL footy.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

As said previously he has time on his side but I am yet to be impressed by his kicking which is supposedly his trait ?

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

he'll be fine, is only 19 (entering his 2nd year) & missed the vast majority of pre-season as well so is underdone.

Yeah was probably a bit harsh. Just don't see the glimpses yet.

BTW you undersell Jones. Has great scope. End up better than our Flossy ILHO.

Maybe about Jones but the point I was really making is that he is one of a type we have, good allround footballers who just do lots of things well.

I think the reason we picked Lennon is because he is a type we don't have and that is important to the make up of a list.

Jones better than Floss? Not even close!

Perhaps. Flirting with using a first round selection because he's a type we don't have isn't the correct way to draft Sin. Especially early.

You could also argue Jones extra pace was something we needed over Lennon anyway.

But good luck to Ben, it is still early days & leysy has been wrong before.

Absolutely. And that's not a knock on Nick.
