Not quite good examples there RT.
Judd still has 5yrs left in him
Dew geez he plays one good game and all of a sudden it was a gamble that paid off.Spare me.If we got Cousins and he only played one good game in that year we,d all be calling it a failure.
Healy still had many run in his legs when he moved to Sydney
Ottens. How old was Otto when he went to the cats? 25ish?
Dyer Disciple said:
Not if that one good game was in a premiership and he won it for us we wouldn't. ;D

Agree with your post, just being mischevious, though i do think your undervaluing Dew's return slightly.

They are all certainly bad examples though Remote Tiger, the issue about Cousins is not about his football ability like it was those players you mentioned.

The issue is first and foremost about his personal demons and secondly his age. Very different.

Captain Johnno and Dyer Disciple - I do not feel they are bad examples because Cousins would run rings around them even though he is a few years older - how many of these guys have polled well in a Brownlow let alone win one (Healy and Judd aside). Cousins like Judd is a freak of a footballer - they do not come along that often. He could play until he is 35 or more like Harvey or Tuck snr or even our own KB. There are plenty of miles in his legs yet - but as Dyer Disciple points out it is the space between his ears where the demons reside that could be the problem.

I just reckon that is a chance worth talking.

As for the other 15 clubs not being interested it strongly suggests something behind the scenes is in play and any club that does take him maybe seen by the AFL in a different light. Thus they all shy away.

Re: Ben Cousins a tiger?

I'd love to give Cuz a change BUT just look on the inside back cover of this years annual report... that's where our future resides... CHIMPAAAAA!!!!!!! :clap

Re: Ben Cousins a tiger?

I just watched a replay of last years Carlton Collingwood MCG clash ( dont ask why) and saw what a difference Judd has made to Carlton.

This leads me to think why not take Cousins. Our only sponsor we can offend is *smile* Smith, the same *smile* Smith who has championed David Hicks, of all people.

If it is good enough to give a terrorist a go, why not a simple grass roots druggie ?

Thankfully *smile* Smith has nothing to do with *smile* Smith Electronics anymore.

The only things that *smile* Smith "champions" either deliver him huge amounts of publicity for his huge ego or a tax deduction that helps his budget.

There are plenty of "grass roots druggies" killing themselves and others on our ROADS and at nightclub fights to risking having ONE at our great club.

I hope our entire playing list can get the reputation as TERRORISTS......by all the other AFL teams and supporters as we rip their hearts out over the next few years.

So you can guarantee that no-one involved with the RFC takes any drugs whatsoever? Big Call there would be either directly or indirectly involved in the RFC approxiamately 500-1000 people statistics say that a few of those would be involved in drugs in some capacity. Also didn't we have a runner in the last few years allegedley involved in Drugs? ex Carlton Player??? was he a bad influence on the players?

Actually, they did finish last that year.

Although, to be fair, it was probably more his alleged involvement with pies, cream buns, custard tarts and assorted deep-fried morsels, both fish and fowl, that slowed down his delivery of the coaches' messages.

Re: Ben Cousins a tiger?

I can't wait till all this is yesterday's news, it encourages a lot of mud raking that is unneccesary.

Let's move the PSD to tomorrow please. :hihi

Re: Ben Cousins a tiger?

My mate (an Aint's supporter) was devastated that they didn't pick up Cuz
said he wasn't an aint's supporter anymore (tried to get him to the mighty Tiges ;D )

My old man, who barracks for the Aints too, said he would buy a Tiges membership if we picked up Cuz

I'm not advocating to get him but it is interesting to see the reaction from other club supporters

TBH (even though i have just added to the Cuz debate) like DD, i'm kinda getting over the Cuz speculation and will be quite happy when the 17th is over

Good point Djevv, Richmond don't really stand to lose credibility.

We will either be seen as the good guys who were too trustworthy and had their loyalty betrayed by Cuz.

Or we are the good guys who gave a guy a chance when nobody else would, and in turn the public will be watching Richo and Cuz help the team push deep into finals, and everyone will look at us and say "well, they deserve it".

There is now no risk to the perception of our club.
After all, you need to HAVE credibility to lose it- and we don't have it. Draft him FFS, there is no harm in giving it a spin.

He's not bad the old *smile* Smith. Sold his electronics business to Woolworths for a shitload of dollars and ever since then he's been bleating about all the nasty multinational companies coming in and stealing our Aussie icons. Nasty big scuttling Cockaroach.

Re: Ben Cousins a tiger?

I just had a friend tell me that he read on BF that on 3aw, that G.Healy has said that RFC has applied to have Polak moved to mature rookie list a la Ramanaskus & is now looking at Ben Cousins.
Probably a load of crap.... but I wouldn't be disappointed if it came true.

Just announced on sen also.

They said that Richmond have not confirmed or denied that they are looking at cousins in the psd.

They did however confirm that they are asking the afl to have polak put on the mature rookie list as stated above.

Re: Ben Cousins a tiger?

Great news. Could never understand why Polak wasn't moved to start with (or at least have the request made).

Run Benny Run.

Re: Ben Cousins a tiger?

A massive concern...........even more so is the concern that Craig Cameron may let the lunatics run the aslyum. A big test of his leadership early days. Stand up for yourself and your long term plan mate and tell Plough and others without a long term focus for this club to pi$$ off.

Re: Ben Cousins a tiger?

HUN article that is linked says moving Polak will give us two picks in PSD.

So we must have someone else in mind as well otherwise we would have just taken him with our one pick in the PSD.

Your maths is amazing.

If a new sponsor had the balls to join us, it would give them unprecedented exposure.........the company that is. Not their balls.

Re: Ben Cousins a tiger?

If we take him awesome, if we don't so be it.

Put it this way, I would take Cousins issues before Nick Davis & Nathan Caroll.

Run Benny Run.

Re: Ben Cousins a tiger?

I just heard that Chimp has decided to change to number 38................
