9th is slipping away from us alright.....behind us as we move with our home grown talent above 8th and further up the ladder.......without BC.

Not quite sure why you support the Tigers. You have nothing positive to say about the club. Your posts are one big yawn.

Re: Ben Cousins a tiger?

I would take him, plenty of others players have had just as much gear as him, he just couldnt stop due to addiction. He would be PR machine, some negative but i feel our club could help him.

Would you let him coach your son's Under 16 footy team?

I wouldn't be too happy if he was at my son's footy club.

Re: Ben Cousins a tiger?

Most people wouldn't understand Ben's situation in the slightest, yet we're all so sure we know what's best.

If the professional drug experts tell the AFL it would be best for him to resume playing footy, then their decision shouldn't be questioned as strongly as it is. I think people should accept that in reality Ben is just trying to overcome a problem and the only people who actually understand his situation are saying he should play AFL footy again. All of these doomsday stories and paranoid scenarios that people are dreaming up are unfair, unjustified and taking the situation beyond all reasonable proportions.

Ben will most likely fit into any AFL club.

He will most likely settle down and play very, very good footy for 2-3 years with an extra 2 years of good footy like Robert Harvey.

If something does happen, it will not be a major issue for the club who takes him on, especially since they will have the AFL's full support (politics are in the club's favour).

Opinions based on morality on emotion are being made by monkeys. Might as well start burning witches at the stake with that sought of primative attitude.

Some of us find Harry's posting interesting, humourous and even incisive on rare occasions. Keep it up H.

He's not going to coach your son's team, why even ask the question, what the hell does that have to do with anything?

Next time ask if we'd be happy with him helping an old lady cross the street because that's about as relevant as your question. ::)

Re: Ben Cousins a tiger?

And we the only bunch of supporters advocating that our team give Cousins a gig, or are there other dluded fools out there ?

Hope there are - and that they support teams higher in PSD order than us ;)

Re: Ben Cousins a tiger?

When is the PSD anyway?

Sponsors should see recuting Cousins as a bonus. Image the extra exposure that we wouldgenerate with Cousins

Re: Ben Cousins a tiger?

I'm see sawing on this one

i think of the short term potential of Cousins tearing it up ( :clap )

then i think of the long term kid who might be Matty White (mmmmmm)

Then i think of the chance of Cousins being way short of his highlight reel (possible)

then i think of the chances of the new kid being as good as matty White (doubtful).

what to do?....what to do??

Having a niece who has been a hard drug user for 15+ years, I know what I am talking about.

I find the following statement offensive "Opinions based on morality on emotion are being made by monkeys".

My family has had to deal with the aftermath every day.

I still maintain that Ben is not totally committed to overcomming his problem due to his actions in the public arena.

I want to emphasis that I trully sympathise with your situation whatever it may be. My heart goes out to anyone that has been hurt by drugs. This post coming up is about putting those emotions behind you, and not letting them impact your opinion on someone else's problem. So I want to make that clear before anyone reads this the wrong way and gets upset.

What I am saying is that we should be looking at the facts.

You've suffered from a situation, you've felt the pain of seeing how hard it can be to get out of it, so your opinion is more likely to be clouded by emotion. Does your experience make your opinion any more factual than anyone elses? I'm sorry, but no.

Does your experience make your opinion more valuable than everyone else's?

No.

If people witness a divorce, do they suddenly understand all the complexities of the situation and not let them happen again?

I am aware I am coming off as cold, but my whole point is that factual information is more valuable than emotional input, so I need to be to make my point.

You maintain that Ben is "not totally committed to overcoming his problem" because you've been burnt by this in the past. How else would you know Ben's situation? You are judging this man on what your niece has done as much as what he has done. You are not giving him a fair go because you are generalising your own experiences to relate to him.

So is your opinion as expert as you think? You don't even have any real facts? All you have is snippets that have been filtered through the media. Is that really enough to judge him on? Or do you "know better" because you've witnessed something similar before?

In an emotive issue, emotions should not play a role in the final decision.

I hope you can understand why I feel that some people/opinions are influenced by factors unrelated to Ben Cousins. I am sure many people have felt pain because of drugs in some form or another, and these people should be aware that these emotions would undoubtably influence their thinking towards Ben.

Don't punish him for your story when you don't know his.

Re: Ben Cousins a tiger?

i am so undecided on this issue.....like thousands of other footy fans i guess...

wow premiers09...strong views!!!

i just dont know...wherever he goes the whole player list would have to agree i reckon...cos the footy world will be watching...every single move.... who is hanging out with him...who is going for a drink with him etc...hmmm...i just dont know...
