Ben Cousins a Tiger (Merged)

Re: Ben Cousins a tiger?

Good point Djevv, Richmond don't really stand to lose credibility.

We will either be seen as the good guys who were too trustworthy and had their loyalty betrayed by Cuz.

Or we are the good guys who gave a guy a chance when nobody else would, and in turn the public will be watching Richo and Cuz help the team push deep into finals, and everyone will look at us and say "well, they deserve it".

There is now no risk to the perception of our club.

By the way people carry on about this guy you'd think he killed their mother...

I wonder where Chris Mainwarring was getting his gear from? ???

Re: Ben Cousins a tiger?

I don't think we will get Cousins and I'm still not very keen on it even for a 8 week trial

but...

Imagine round 1, game 1, Richmond vs. Carlton on a thursday night, Cousins vs. Judd
Would be huge ;D

Re: Ben Cousins a tiger?

I'd much prefer watching Cotchin v Judd and watch Cotchin hold his own. While that distraction is going on, Foley, Lids, Cogs, Connors, Hislop, Thomson & Edwards are all running amok.

Seriously, I'd much prefer a Cotchin v Judd match up. The up and coming who is about to steal Judd's title as the AFL's best.

Been thinking about this for a long time and have considered all the angles without passing comment until now.

Richmond should draft Cousins. Probably have to be in the PSD but mature age rookie if necessary, although I don't really see the point in this as we will want him off the rookie list for the start of the season.

The Cousins issue comes down to this for me. If Ben was married with 2 kids and had gone on TV and said sorry, every club would probably be after him. So we are perpetuating a double standard for Ben because he still appears to be an indipendant, confident man unaffraid of public opinion. We hate this. We don't feel sorry for him, we actually want him to come down a peg in good old tall poppy fashion. He has done wrong, admitted it, done his time and now wants to play. I have no problem with him in a Tiger jumper. Will he be a better player for us than a last round draft pick? Obviously the answer is yes.
" if he was married with 2 kids and said sorry",and wasn`t still hanging around with the same shady gangsters, bikies and drug dealers and didn`t shave his head and wax his entire body when he knew he had to provide a hair sample to prove he wasn`t on drugs still, then yes every club,or at least more clubs would be interested in giving him a go.

there`s a bit more to it than just having kids and saying sorry.

It's amazing how rumour can become fact to some if they hear the rumour enough.

Is he hanging out in a biker club is he? I heard he was actually making the stuff himself and was an office holder in the Hells Angels.

He had a haircut. He has had shaved hair before. Even Deledio has a crew cut, is he on drugs now?

Re: Ben Cousins a tiger?

Ha!!

Gives credence to a particular PM that was put out during the season relating to something at Tigerland that would rock the footy world.

The Cassandra Principle works again!

Unfortunately.

For chimpa that's like shooting fish in a barrel ;D

Re: Ben Cousins a tiger?

Were stupid if we dont get him we got everything to gain nothing to lose in this situation look what dew did with hawks imagine what cosuins could do with tigers but its not up to us TW, cameron, sheeds or march let the players decide plain and simple

Re: Ben Cousins a tiger?

I don't think Cousins would qualify as a mature age rookie. IIRC this was set up for players outside the AFL who hadn't played at senior level.

Again, very strange statement to make. If we're stupid, then so are the other 15 clubs and their recruiting/list management staff.

Re: Ben Cousins a tiger?

We need him. 9th might be slipping away from us.

Re: Ben Cousins a tiger?

Is there a chance we are tossing up between Cousins or next best kid with our psd pick ? I would go Cousins,he couldn't turn out any worse than our last 2 psd picks (Kingsley,Gourdis) & besides we still have the rookie draft to nab some kids

I think Tigon is referring to the rumour that Demetriou may wish to give us some additional incentive to take him as our PSD pick. Not all clubs are in our position re the PSD at least.

One of the greatest of the last 50 years, and with plenty to play for, could still be a Tiger.

Dumb. If you don't know and lets face it you don't, why put the death of his friend on his shoulders as well.

What are you implying?

Elaborate.
