Ben Cousins a Tiger (Merged)

Ben can say no to everyone else but us right ? That is he doesnt have to go elsewhere even if they have an earlier pick ?

Well, technically he can say no, but I think he would then have to sit out the year and he really can't afford to do so.

Besides there is some chatter going around that Essendon could be sniffing around? There is so much more to this one folks.......

No, Cousins must go where he is picked. If he declines he is barred from playing for 2 years (I wonder if that would halt a comeback :p)

The thing with the PSD though is he has more control over his terms, payment, length of contract etc. clubs have to meet his terms to pick him so clubs and players can negotiate more. He can also get a 1 year deal as opposed to mandatory two in the National Draft.

Re: Ben Cousins a tiger?

It could be red and black or yellow and black for Benny Boy, this could go either way, the chatter is quite strong.

Anyone seen Knights lately?

Skipworth is not in Cousins league as a player.
No doubt they are exploring their options but I'd be surprised if they went for it.
Particularly as DD says because of their discipline stance.

Also Mal Michael for Rama will see them back off because of polak's situation.

Please explain? :hihi

Was Ricky Nixon anywhere in sight? I hope not. ;D

PM me and I'll tell you.

JOKING!! Put the rotten tomatoes down people!

Knights lives in my local area and knows me only as the face of a tiger supporter who used to love running into him when he wore our jumper proud.

I regularly run into him as we both go to a same certain restaurant.

I'm just a hack fan though, he tells me nothing now his at Essendon since he knows my allegiances. >:D

Bastard.

Yeah, it could well be just a bluff or to get back at Sheeds? But who knows what can happen in this game?

Awesome clip, don't normally look at these but curiosity killed the putty cat...

Sign him up right away....what did I just say???? I MEANT...

DON'T sign him....did you see the way he runs down the boundary line so often and runs into forward pockets to kick goals?

Richo will kill him coming the other way. ;D

Re: Ben Cousins a tiger?

Deledio - Cousins - Foley - Cotchin - Tuck - Coughlan - Johnson

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I respect your view tt2, but have to disagree on one major premise.

With major decisions I have one main method. Weigh up the potential wins and losses and base which way I go based on, if the positives don't work out, and I can't afford the negatives...pass.

I disagree with you the pros outweigh the cons.

You make a good point about it assisting in the development of Cotchin and Lids etc, I did consider that, but they are always going to play and improve. Sure, maybe not as quickly as they might if cousins is in their to take heat off, but I would rather work on developing the entire side than just the stars.

The improvement you get from Cotch and Lids would be negated (if I am right) by the lack of young midfielders ready to play finals as in experienced/developed enough. I hate putting all the eggs in one basket, we did that with Richo and it didn't work. I don't want to do the same thing with Cotch and Lids...I want to see a good team structure not a reliance on a few superstars.

One thing that no-one seems to have touched on is the on-field confidence that Cousins would bring.

He has an amazingly strong inner confidence, self belief & is overawed at nothing when he crosses the line. Our club have been down for so long, leysy thinks even our young players get passed on a level of self doubt from senior players that has naturally crept into there game over time. Especially in crunch games as we've seen so many occasions even or especially recently.

Sure its a doubt that he'll ever get back there, but Cousins at his gut-running confident best in big games could drag forward the levels of self belief of our young brigade years ahead of what it normally might.

Excellent point.

I feel myself slowing being swayed by the pro-Cousins crowd. Where is that bandwagon...

Jump on Chooker, it's getting full but we'll squeeze ya in. ;D

Well this is partly what I meant by the whole, breeding success thing I spoke of earlier.

You articulate it a bit more deeper though, beyond just winning games to something more profound.

Hmmmmm...begrudgingly give you that. *grumbles* Good point.

I'm just at the edge Leysy, just at the precipice of taking the Cousins plunge. Leave me alone! :hihi

Since you've reared your head Leysy...your point aside, in terms of the development of our youth and players like your love child Collins...what think ye of having such a mature aged midfield running around blocking development of kids?

Those fortunate enough to play with him...sure...but...what of those busting a guy you watch in the VFL and complain about not getting enough opportunity as it is?

Expect to see more "Meyers".
