About Prince - here's my yarn!
I'm a regular at Bennetts Lane and I get their weekly newsletters.
So there I was at home on my computer around 11PM one night last week and my email pings me.
There's an invite for me from Bennetts Lane to get my backside in gear 'cos Prince is playing an unscheduled gig at 1:30AM.
Bugger me! What to do!
I had to work early next morning so I couldn't join the 80 lucky people who heard the call and got inside Bennetts Lane to get an up close and intimate Prince concert.
Cost?
$200 and all donated to charity.

He did the same gig the last time he visited Melbourne too.
Bennetts Lane Jazz Club is his favourite venue. Mine too!

LOL one of my fav venues too.
I got my gf into jazz and she loves it!(mainly because of the film The Talented Mr Ripley)
We go and watch Eamon McNellis play alot with Raj on drums.They have a great bebop quintet at the Uptown Jazz Club too.
Wow seeing Prince there would be awesome.
P.S. I changed my left hand grip on the drums after watching jazz drummers.Love the trad grip.

I heard he did 6 encores.
That's giving your fans something.

Respect to Prince.

Prince and the NPG played about 26 songs, a Medley of 7 songs as part of an encore and a few Jams along the way.The man had total control of the place and our full attention and respect.

What a week for me. Amazing concert even more amazing performance by the tiges.
life cannot get any better!

Back on prince... he came back on stage after 20 minutes!

Prince at Bennetts Lane would be an all time great gig. Historic (even if repeated).

Prince at Bennetts Lane would be an all time great gig. Historic (even if repeated).

There'a a painting of Prince on the outside wall at BL.

Apparently he does BL every time he comes to town.
And the less that know about it the better.

Saw Mudhoney on Friday night at the Corner. Awesome. Missed seeing Nirvana, so was pretty happy when I saw they were coming to town. There's a lot of Nirvana in Mudhoney, or more correctly, there's was a lot of Mudhoney in Nirvana.

Band of Horses are coming to big day out next year. I can not recommend them highly enough. Have seen them a couple of times and are my favourite live act. Hopefully they will do some side shows. Check them out

I'll second this. Great live band. Seen them 3 times now. Probably better at a small venue, but check them out nonetheless.

Saw Mudhoney on Friday night at the Corner. Awesome. Missed seeing Nirvana, so was pretty happy when I saw they were coming to town. There's a lot of Nirvana in Mudhoney, or more correctly, there's was a lot of Mudhoney in Nirvana.

They seem to be visiting a lot in recent years. Saw them a few years ago and felt old ;D. Surrounded by late 30s and early 40s with their vintage grunge T-shirts will do that . Still rocked though.

Quite enjoyable really although they probably won't knock Grateful Dead off the top of my cd stack.

P.S. Thanks for sharing. It's good to know what the kids from PRE are doing. There are a couple I get news about every now and then.
