Re: Been to a good gig lately? [Merged]
Went to Day on the Green yesterday at Rochford Winery.
Don't get the hype for Lanie Lane. Husky are decent, very tight outfit, looking critically at them there probably isn't a huge amount to differentiate themselves from the field of mellow rock/pop outfits, but they do what they do very well. Think they would have won some fans by the end of their set.
The two main acts...you know, I understand the logic, you put the big international act on last because you're paying them more. But I feel that the organisers made a serious mistake with the way they arranged it. Put it simply: Icehouse were stellar and Hall & Oates were snoozy. And the order, playing Icehouse first, meant the crowd peaked for them and then headed home when it became clear that Hall & Oates couldn't match them for intensity. To see Icehouse in the fading light of the day, with the light show they put on, would have been out of this world. Alas, it wasn't to be.
So yeah, Icehouse were brilliant. For someone who was in single figures when Icehouse were big in the 80's, to see them live was a long held dream of mine. And they played my favourite song (Don't Believe Anymore). That alone made my day worth it and then some.
