If that happens & the man is innocent, it just highlights how screwed social up media is. Who'd want to be famous?
I think the pariah label for young men having relations with underage girls predates social media. Gossip of this sort, in its day, was quick to spread and hard to walk back if it turned out to be untrue. Being famous? Not for this little black introvert duck.

Ultimately we will see the results of the official NBA/police investigation.
I've been a fan but if he's broken the law he absolutely deserves all the flack & more.

In Giddey's interest that he's cleared quickly though if he's done nothing wrong, as the longer this drags out the more it will impact his reputation for sure.
He played pretty lousy today in the loss to the 76ers. No surprise really given what must be on his mind right now.

Social media is a mess. Take this situation out of it - anyone can make any accusation about another person and if it gains enough traction, that accusation is treated as gospel. There's a generation of kids whose only news comes from TikToc. This Giddey thing has been the most talked about thing in my house of teenagers this weekend and its all about what he's done, not what's alleged that he's done

Social media is a cesspit. In most cases a complete blight on society.

And don't worry about famous people. What about the every day people, particularly young people, who have their lives destroyed by the rampant cyber bullying that takes place on social media outlets. That is the real issue.

Social media optimises for outrage by its design.

With that said it amplified the #metoo movement in a way that would have likely been buried in the past and empowered many abused to speak out so can be a force for good.

But generally yeah I agree it pools together extremist views and amplifies them to make them seem mainstream and resulting in widespread death and injury. Take invermectin as a Covid treatment as your lead case.

If Cuban is selling down his majority share in the Mavericks, what chance this knob is involved in another scandal/significant issue that’s yet to reach the surface ? Ie cashing out now before he finds himself in a Snyder-Washington Commanders type of situation.

Been a horror season so far for Aussies in the NBA.:(
For some.
Yes for Simmons, Mills, Landale, Giddey (definitely off court, and on court too).
Maybe 50/50 for Green (assuming injury isnt too bad) and Thybulle (do we really count him??)
No for Exum, Reath, Ingles.

For most. Daniels too barely getting any court time. Those bottom few names are bit players.

I knew id forget someone. Daniels is averaging 25 minutes/game, and has started a few games. Neither he nor Green have made a jump to stardom, but both are cementing their NBA careers nicely.
Ingles at 36 has just returned from an injury that was feared to have ended his career, and is playing good minutes off the bench for a Magic team that has jumped into the play off race.
Exum has returned to the NBA after a few years in Europe and is a rotation player for a championship contender.
Reath has cracked the NBA and is now the back up centre and getting regular minutes.

I reckon those 4 (or at least the last 3) would very happy with how the season is progressing.

Agree with all that. Daniels is verging on becoming an All NBA defensive player.

Reckon Patty might be done after this year, move to Europe or come back to Australia.

I thought Landale would play more. Sengun becoming Joker jr has played a large role in it.

I wish like hell that our guys getting meaningless minutes in the NBA would pack up and head to Europe. Nothing develops your game like playing.

where is OKC going to trade Giddey to???

Before he ends up locked up. Will it end up destroying his short career...

Geez... talk about jumping the shark.

What I've heard is... He was 19 at the time. They met in a nightclub where she had a fake ID and lied about her age. The girl in question, and her family, are not interested in harming Giddey and are not cooperating with anyone on this issue. Without them, it will be dropped.

I believe with the age thing, it means he wouldn't be charged anyway.

In the short-term, OKC need to drop him to the bench until the case is dropped by the NBA and cops.

I hope thats the case but where one can make a dollar out of someone, who knows. Do they trade him or send him to the bench?

Landale is probably the only one that should to, but he is stuck trying to get his contract guaranteed.

Mills will be hoping he gets traded somewhere he is needed.

OKC were aware of this Giddey incident 2 years ago. If there was anything to it, surely he wouldn't be playing.

Having said that, his recent form suggests he is close to losing his spot in the starting 5.

Amazing how many youtubers call him out without knowing the facts, he even got labelled a 'Rockspider' by a well known ex- con content creator, when the facts still haven't been confirmed.

Anything for clicks/views.

I don't believe for a second he would have knowingly done what the initial allegation suggested, I actually feel sorry for the kid. Must be going through a real hard time, he is getting booed everytime he gets the ball on the court and there's nowhere to hide when there are only 10 players on the court.
