It was a slam dunk of a call. Heat had a much harder path, Jimmy Buckets was beat up and Jokic is that good.

For years the league has been in the Lebron, KD and Steph best-player discussion, that's over. It's Giannis and Jokic. Hands down.

Off the top of my head 4 of the last 5 MVP's, finals MVP's, all NBA first two. They are the best two, first two time Euro's have been at the top of the league at the same time. Maybe international basketball is really taking over. You got Wemby coming in now and he should be ready to take the mantle in three-fours if he keep tracking the way he is. NBA my biggest love outside of AFL. NBA has more storylines that go 365 than any other league.

Hearing Ja is getting a 60 game suspension.

Very happy for Jokic and Murray - a Canadian by the way. And very happy for another small market team winning it all. They could stay on top too if this and young side stays healthy and together. Hard to see one Jack White getting many minutes if he stays - except when injuries occur.

So much fun watching Jokic play. And appears a humble guy.

The NBA Draft is coming up this week. All happening on Thursday, Eastern USA time I believe.

Yeah, Jokic is definitely No1 in the world right now.
Embiid's regular season was MVP worthy, and his play offs were ok, but Jokic was always the best player on the court when it mattered.

Still would’ve loved to have seen that matchup. I think Embid is good enough to take the honours. Out shoot and out rebound Jokic. But the Nuggets still would’ve won it.
 
Been to each of the games this week - Boomers v The World - and going again tonight. South Sudan - are big and athletic and will cause us some issues if they can play to their strengths. But I'm expecting a win.

The Brazil loss was no shock. They have huge players that could shoot the ball from anywhere and were well organised. Plus they couldn't miss from three. But a loss like this will do us more good than a sloppy win. We looked happy to trot the ball up the court for most of the game - and that is not our one wood. We should be flying every chance we get.

I'm not a fan of the team as selected. I think we have too many similar players. And the similarity is that they can't shoot - Thybulle, Cooks, Daniels, Exum and Giddey all fall into that category. Only Giddey, Thybulle and perhaps Exum should have been selected in the squad. They should have picked a really big 5 in Maker that can genuinely protect the rim - and who has the juice to play high tempo. They should have picked a pure shooter that can create his own shot in Vasiljevic. They should have picked a big that is an authentic threat from 3 point territory in Vague and that is solid in all other aspects.

Still - it will be good to see Landale and Green back in action tonight (hopefully). Especially Green - he's the real deal. From the squad of 13 I'm tipping Daniels to be the last man cut. He looks a little lost out there and is doing the opposite of imposing himself on the game. He may come out tonight and tear it up - he has that level of talent - but I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't see any court time either.

You can see the end coming quickly for both Patty and Joe. I wouldn't be disappointed if this World Champs is their last bout in the green and gold. Their presence going forward could hold back some fast developing juniors - like Proctor, Toohey, Ohlbrich and Zikarski who would all benefit from propping up the back end of the bench in Paris.

The Boomers are now a team in transition from one generation to the next. I wouldn't hold them back - and I would use the Olympics next year to blood new talent. And it's not like you'd necessarily be sacrificing a medal to do it - a medal is not guaranteed even if we took our most experienced squad to Paris.

The talent coming through the ranks of the juniors is prodigious - unlike anything we've seen before in quality and depth. If we do this right in the near future - we will be in contention for an upper echelon finish in Paris and a gold medal in Los Angeles and Brisbane when that talent will be beautifully seasoned. And that is no hyperbole.

Talk is cheap but he sounds in a far better place.
Hope he can get back to playing good ball again & represent Australia at the Olympics.

Yeah saw that article Oldie - he could be the making of a Gold Medal campaign or ruin the whole program if he gets on board the Boomer express. Be interesting to see him and Giddey go head to head.
World Champs are still live for us. No more patches where we fall asleep and I’m picking us to medal again.
Think Green and Thybulle will ground Luka into the floorboards on Friday!

IMO yet another terrible showing from the Oz coaching team.

I felt that the rotations were again way off the mark eg. Giddey gets hot and scores a run of six consecutive points, then gets subbed off. We go stagnant and.... *crickets* I used to be a fan of Goorg', got a number of his coaching vids, but his time has passed!

Goulding left off when we couldn't buy a basket from the outside, leading Lithuania Slovenia to clog up the driving lanes.

Reath left off when we were getting out rebounded and rolled.

White left off while Kay gets big minutes. etc etc etc

On other topics... reffing was trash again. Doncic is a talented, soft, whinger.

As soon as Landale went down, some height needed to be brought in. If we had a quality *big* man to match it inside, we beat Germany, and could have taken Lithuania too.

Mills has been an absolute star for a long time, but it's time for him to move to the bench.

Entire coaching team should get the ass and some new blood/ ideas brought in, as we are playing outdated basketball atm.

Agree with all of that K3 - to a word. Ingles an absolute passenger - must be put out to pasture. Can’t understand the lack of use of White who was shooting 40%+ from NBA distance in the G League on decent volume for a whole season getting junk minutes only - and he’s a cracking defender. If you’re not going to use Reath then surely Maker or Pinder would have been better selections. Need a new selection and coaching panel for sure.

Give Exum Patties minutes, give him a green light to create and shoot it and you’ll get a similar points yield with less effort and much better defensive coverage. He was wasted in this campaign. And don’t start me on Ingles.

As we couldn't buy an outside shot, it was the way to go.

Why Goulding was taking to the World's, and not played, is even more confusing.

Great summary. I thought Goorg's rotations were terrible. It's the first time ever we've lacked shooters. Needed Goulding to play more, need to get DJ Vasiljevic in the squad. Both Patty and Joe looked slow and unsure of themselves. Thought we needed to pick up the pace last night and try and run and gun. White and Daniels to pick up the defensive intensity and throw Goulding out there and tell him to get us 10 in 4 minutes.
