From Greg Baum twitter ‏@GregBaum last night:

The best Essendon player out there tonight is Bachar Houli.

Just waiting for some essendon flog to come out and say he wouldn't make it in their best 22 ;)

How about a bit of consistency? Bag players when they are actually bad - or else bag everyone for every mistake they make - not just players that you don't personally like.

Wtf u on about, if a player plays bad ill say it but Cotchin and lids hardly play bad games and on houli and grigg most of the time they get their ball in open space and have far more time to size up their options than a delidio or cotchin has.....on a final note u made a wrong assumption on bagging players i dont like, both have been good pick ups my only gripe on grigg is he shirks the context and wont tackle....not sure why u replied to my post as what i wrote referred to the previous game ::)

Btw Houli was brilliant last night...tremendous run & carry and disposal very good

Has developed a bit of dash about him of late and his handball has also become more of a weapon.

Hopefully he can improve his defence over the off-season.

It's all about depth. Who do we have trotting around the backline for Coburg? Webberly? Not much of a choice TBH.

We need another Morris type, but with a inch or two more height and better kicking. Houli plays that soft quarter back role like Bowden did. By moving Lids into the midfield, Houli was next in line. Newman plays a bit deeper and has lost his pace, so really it's Bacher who we have to turn to.

Great game from Houli, the run and carry was a treat, as was the pinpoint kicking. He's had an up and down season but it's pleasing to see him finish strongly.

Thought he was going to have a good game when very early he laid a couple of pretty good tackles on Essendon guys. From there his game just took off and it was probably his best for the year imo.

I was apprehensive at first, but Bachar has been an excellent pick up for us. Had a very good season last year and had continued on again this year.

You can't have 22 players cast of the same mould. Bachar plays his role very well.

And he couldn't pick a better game to play the way he did and to cut them open with a very good running game. It just added salt to the essendon fans evening

We'll be better if we can play him on a wing rather than HBF. With Newman in his twilight we need to get a couple more dashing distributors (to add to Morris). Helbig could be one of them.

Just wanted to let some on here in on some information and congratulate Bachar on a fantastic game and great season in 2012

Before Bachar was drafted there was some concearns about him playing during the Ramadan period where he must fast & Not have anything to eat or dring from sun up to sundown.

Well the period of Ramadan has finished last week and great to see that it hasnt effected Bachars performances at all, Congratulations Bachar

houli was very good last night. Like many have said, i like that he was putting the ball under the arm and running with it... one of his best games for the yr. My only gripe was his shots at goal.... a couple of times on the run there he sprayed them but on a night where everyone had trouble with that you can excuse him.
