Bachar Houli - بشار حولي,

Nothing to worry about here.Prob not as noticable this year as our kicking in general has improved across the board.Good mid range player playing his role.

One of his achillies heals is he,s very one sided,Thats fine, but the problem is we have a few others of the same[Nahas,Grigg] The question is can we afford to have all 3 in the same side?

Still reckon he is weak and goes to ground too easily and has limited awareness. Still produced some nice kicks.
yep, certainly agree on awareness. I like him but he just needs some fine tuning.

Completely different players, not sure how you can even compare them. I would love to see their respective stats for meters gained. Not sure I have ever seen Dea kick it down the line, he is often deeper and under pressure looking for the release pass sideways. Houli is best running out of defense and kicking long. He has been very good for us in this role. What short memories some people have on this site.

Exactly.

I remember an interview with Houli and he spoke about a meeting he had with Dimma while he was still at Esserdun. Dimma drew a picture of an oval an a number 43 on the wing and said " I will play you there for 22 games next year if you give me this, this and this".
The interview may have been at the end of last year. Anyway, he jokingly said he is still waiting to be played on the wing. They are giving him an education. Down back, he is easily covered. His move to the wing isn't far away.

GO BRUCE!!

Weak? :hihi His kicking most of the time, just like the elite players in the competition, go astray or don't hit the mark. You mean he goes to ground just as easy as Nahas, Rance, or even Edwards.

Didn't compare them, I said he would find himself competing "soon" with Dea, he won't be losing his spot for him next week. Goodness me, "Completely different players" should mean dropping a forward for a backman, they are not completely different players, but yes, they have different styles. I also don't care for comparing meters gained with a player who has played 12 games.

I think Dea may overtake Houli one day. I hope he does, I don't have a short memory, its just what I would like to see.

Dropped off a bit in the Dreamtime match and has regained it yet.

With Dea and Grimes to come back into the backline Bacher needs to extract the digit.

Either way, having Rance, Grimes, Griffiths/Astbury, Newman, Morris, Houli, Conca,Dea, Ellis and possibly our first round draft choice to rotate through there next year...depth, I've missed you.

Was he tagged last night? Didn't seem to find his usual space. Suspect he's been targeted by the opposition as a potential weak link - quality ball use notwithstanding, is a liability overhead and gets nervous around goal.

I am a Houli fan but what worries me is in a contest he gets beaten more times than not and goes to ground to easily....

he is poor overhead one-on-one but i think he has improved a little since he joined us.
teams must be putting more work into him this year, he hasnt provided us with nearly as much run as last year, but i reckon he has been solid mostly.

i would like to see him move up the ground at some point, or at least rotating through the wings.

back 7 of Rance/Grimes/Batchelor/Griff/Morris/Dea/Newman with Houli/Ellis rotating through looks good to me.

He is not playing his true position because of injuries to key defenders. When Grimes, Astbury and fingers crossed Moore are available - Houlie should naturally play off the wing as an outside reciever. Houli is never going to be a tough in and under defender, its not gonna happen!

Conca too seemed to play back last night and last week

Didn't mean that to sound like a criticism of Dea, he is tracking just fine. I just can't see a time where it would be in - Dea, out - Houli, on the selection sheet purely based on form. I see Dea down back competing with Morris, Newman and at a stretch Grimes for a spot. Houli I think will be higher up the ground and kicking down the line with the mid fielders and perhaps Ellis.

Competing/comparing, semantics I suspect.

yeah, im not sure that is the best idea long term. i like him behind the ball when we have it, or when he is loose, but defensively he is a little lacking i think. probably good for his game long term though.

If he can't play in the middle or wing, get rid of him.
The mistakes he makes destroys me!

Going to start calling him the fumble king. Can't take a clean possession if his life defends on it.

Taken over McGuane's role of 2-3 brainfades every game. Been terrible lately.

And I rated him higher then Grigg when he came to the club.
