Bachar Houli - بشار حولي,

Thought Houli froze last night on the big stage against his old team. Wasn't involved as much as normally and when he was he uncharacteristically turned it over a few times. Defensively he wasn't up to it either. Has done credits in the bank though.

Essendon likes to drag him back to the goal mouth where he gets nervous. They would know his shortcomings well.

I am sick of him hitting the deck every time he cops a bit of body pressure. Those bandy legs should provide for a much better balance than he shows. Has been disappointing this year

Ive been on about this facet of Bachars game since he came to the club, and was the main reason i against him being picked up.

He is not a backman andsaid it ad nauseum now will be best utilised on a wing, , he aint hard enough at contests to play back said it a million times, goes to ground regularly and doesnt hit physical contests hard enough but flowersniffers have pilliaried me for pointing it out and nothing has changed in that regard , hes a good runner link player with a good hoof, thus much better utilised on a wing ala the way they use Grigg, and Houli is a better kick than Grigg.

*smile* whenever this topic has been brought up its been pointed out to you how Houli has improved in this area with specific examples. He'll never be a hard man but he goes when its his turn and has taken some lumps.

I tend to agree. If a soft player like Jetta outmuscles him then he has issues. He has improved slightly but he's hardly improved enough to say he's fixed that problem.

He definitely goes to ground far too often - that is undeniable. It's something he has to take out of his game - it is a golden rule and I'm sure the coaches are
making him well aware of it.

Yeah, this is me as well. He can still go to ground a little easy at times but he is a vastly improved footballer. And one of the big reason our ball movement is better.

Didn't realize I was the only pointing his deficiency which is glaringly obvious in my and others opinion you just said yourself he isn't a hard man and as ive said I believe he is better utilized on a wing where his skill and engine would be better utilized. Nothing has changed my opinion on Houlis game he has attributes that are good for the side but desire to hit contests hard ain't one of em hence he's better for the tigers up the ground in a similar role to grigg I call it as I see it and won't change regardless of the venom you spout at me his hardness at contests hasn't really improved in my opinion

I hope Houli is 100% fit today. Last year when it was wet his skills stood out so I'm expecting some good form today.

Unfit?? Huh??

One of the news channels reported he got injured at training on Thursday. I think that's what MB's referring to. Ditto for Conca who looked liked he copped some sort of a cork or slight groin problem. Wouldn't be surprised to see a late change - maybe White in for Conca? If the rain comes down, could see big Griff or Vickery make way also..

Soft effort on outer wing 1st quarter. Ball in front of him, Hawk coming towards him, pulls up, goes to ground, Hawthorn goal.

There were a couple of occasions today where he didn't show enough courage at the contest. If Houli wants to go to the next level as a player and for the team to progress, this flaw has to be eliminated.

As already pointed out, the one in the first quarter cost a goal, but there were others.

Reading the paper today there was a small story that Houli is close to signing a new contract. Let's hope it is announced soon.

I didn't see that, I did think their were two notable incidents where Houli was brave going back with high balls.

Yep, he put his body on the line a few times.
