Perfect one week, pretty ordinary the next..

Wasn't his best game but Melbourne had a player sit on him all night with the only intention of keeping him away from the ball. In the end he did alright but not as freewheeling as the week before.

Awesome pick up.

Houli top 3 b&f ====> great PSD pick = great pieceof business by hartley.

add a KPD and ruckmen with simliar results, this hartley project will prove to be a gem find himself.

I am of the opinion we might have a new alias next season...the port richmond tigers... ;) ;)

An article on the club site featuring Bruce

Keeps improving. He put it on the line a couple of times last weekend when I was sure he'd turn it up. He is addressing the major weakness in his game.

I really like this guy. Credit to player. And coaches.

BTW one of my boys calls him "Tabouleh". I ad a larf.

If we add can one a year like this bloke Blair Hartley can write his own pay cheque.

That's his job, shake the tree and get a couple loose.

But Houli has been superb. The one thing that suprised me the most is his pace with ball in hand. One of those long striders who don't look like they are moving but just eats up the turf. And his kicking is first rate, quick through the air.

I questioned his hardness when it was his turn to go in early games (ie vs Hawthorn) on this forum.
He says in that article on RFC website that his confidence was down early - fair enough.
Certainly his confidence from approx round 6 onwards improved markedly and he closed the gap on that issue of courage.
He is an elite kick of the ball - gee it feels good to write that about a Tiger - and all in all has had a cracking year.
One of the best recruits to Tigerland for some time, in terms of value for pick - great work Blair and co.

Fair call.
Except for a slight case of dyslexia. :p

Yeah, his speed has surprised me too. And his kicking is magnificent.

He has shirked a few over the year but you can see he's working on it. From afar seems a man of excellent character.

I wasn't too sure about him, but he has had a very good year. Love his kicking and his set up work off the backline.
Properly I best pick up since N.Brown

I don't mind his kicking but I love his running. And for a bloke who couldn't handball last year - wow - thirty metres off three steps.

He's the best kind of diarrhoea: he leaks but he runs. Can you think of any Richmond players who leak but don't run? They're sharts.

PS All of the above-mentioned player types are better suited to home games.

I think we forget sometimes that he is still a relatively young player , certainly in terms of games played . His best footy should still be ahead of him.

Great pick up .

He's exceeded leysy's expectations. No doubt.

As others have said his pace has been the biggest suprise. He didnt have that toe at Essendon. Great to see.

Just shows what confidence can do for a player.

Have the confidence of the coaching staff and the fear of failure slowly gets eroded, allowing you to take more risks and therefore exhibit your natural talents.

As pretty much everyone else has said, he has been a great pickup for us....I am pleased his lunch with Hird didn't sway him into staying.

Always been a Houli fan and was wrapped we got him in the PSD, had a pretty good year and will be in the top 10 in the B&F.

Much better long-termer than Grigg imo.
