Bachar Houli - بشار حولي,

Nobody bags people for kicking down the line yet people bag Short out for doing the exact same thing.

I'm talking about the situation. THAT situation, the game situation, the score, the weather etc etc. I bag short for not quite being good enough across the board.

Was sat right above it too. When ross kicked down the line we had a 2 on 1.

Even if Ross had hit a target, there was nowhere to go from there. He would have been on the opposite wing, in the same position Houli started. There was no point in it. It was high risk, no reward, and ultimately came unstuck.

He wasn't the only one to do this by the way. There were a couple of slow, risky switches at the start of the third that also made no sense. We need to stick to our A game in the wet.

Had a huge second half. Some very brave moments, and that half volley pick up with a bout 20 seconds left was brilliant. He handled the ball better in wet than dry, as lamby said he had some very houli moments in the first half.

He's very consistent.

blotted his copybook a bit with the 45 metre pass BACKWARDS IN THE WET. PLAY FOR TERRITORY! Led to the Ross turnover and WC goal, I hated that. But nobody's perfect.

Nothing wrong with it. That was all Ross's fault. He had 2 targets and kicked it in between both straight to WC. Hit the target and we were out.

That switch was never on. We were sitting right above it. First instinct was 'What the hell is he doing, there's nothing over there? ".

They nearly managed to chip and poke their way out of it, but it required such cute kicking it inevitably came undone.

Horrible decision in the wet. I still had Houli equal best on with Martin and Soldo.

I was sitting right above it too and it was absolutely on. In fact it created a 2 on 1 opportunity for Ross who made the skill error. Funny how two people can see the same incident totally opposite.

OK. Generally good Antman. Had a very ordinary start and as usual had his Houli moments. Good intent in the last and some nice touches and link up play most of the day.

I'd say he did his job well both offensively and for the most part defensively although his opponent did kick 3 goals .

Good take Lamby. I thought he went long to a contest a few times when shorter running options were on.

Overall, he was great. Jack Ross really stuffed up that pass when he had two options. Went for the furthest tiger and mis-kicked it too short. Was right below us; an error from a first-year player. Bach put in one of his best games; nearly every player makes an error or two with the pressure in the modern game.

it was wet! If it was dry, it was absolutely on, but it wasn't. Skill errors happen just as much as not in the WET. Play for territory and hit the next context. I must be taking crazy pills again.

I'm not bagging Bachar, I'm commenting on a blue he made, ie discussing the game, as we tend to do on an online footy discussion site.

Agree. I like Ross but he’s had a couple of shithouse turnovers since he’s been back. You’d expect an under 14 to hit that target. Not good enough.

How can anyone think he should retire after this year? He’s in career best form.

Of course I don’t know what he’s thinking himself but I hope he plays on.

The scrutiny on this bloke has reached a new level. He's now getting blamed for teammates' unforced errors.

come off it. He's a playmaker, he made that play. He had a brilliant game, but that was a blue. war of attrition, suddenly he does the complete opposite of that, and how we play in the wet, especially in a finals-like cauldron, and hey presto! Soon as he went backwards WC were up and at us, it gave them a sniff and they took it.

as for reaching a new level, what part of he played a great game don't you understand?

All I'll say in conclusion is if all one can find as a mistake in a 34 disposal effort is a backward switch pass (done many times in a game wet or dry) that hit a team mate on his own who then made an unforced turnover then he's had a damn good game as you acknowledge and probably hardly worth bringing up. As mentioned funny how differently people can see the same event.

I thought he was good as a link and slingshot into the fwd line. A few errors but we all can't be like an in-form Sydney Stack can we.

Should be AA or at least in squad. Amazing he doesn’t get tagged. Surely Adam Saad doesn’t get a spot

I had him retired at qtr time. Still not sure he and Short can play in the same team come finals.

Houli gets more of the ball and Short is more lethal with it. But would prefer Houli at this stage
